Never tried it!: I doubt it. Seems like a strange way to try to clear your sinuses, which i believe would be highly unpredictable. Try a simple nasal saline spray from the pharmacy. Start any time now: Having a family n work makes it more challenging to find time to exercise, but you have the will, you will find the way to do it. Many women start exercing shortly after birth once the pain/discomfort of child birth has subsided. Start out easy and increase overtime.
