Pain Cheek And Temple
I have an absess that I think has infected my sinus because I'm feeling pain in my cheek and temple. I'm taking penicillin. ....should I see a dentist?
Abscess: If a dentist prescribed the antibiotics, then yet you should discuss your symptoms with that dentist. If you placed yourself on the antibiotics, there's even more reason to see a dentist as you need definitive treatment for the abscess- Antibiotics alone will not rid you of the abscess. Your dentist might also suggest you see a physician if he/she thinks it necessary. ...Read more

I have had pain along my right jaw line into my cheek and temple causing headaches for 2 months now. What could it be? Sometimes its just my cheek.
TMJ Syndrome: Do you have increased pain when you open and close your jaw, and when you chew? Do you grind your teeth at night? Are you under a lot of stress? Most likely, you have temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome. I suggest getting an inexpensive tooth protector from a sports shop (they work almost as well as the expensive dental bite blocks), and try an OTC pain reliever (ibuprofen, naproxen). ...Read more

Continue to monitor: Some people may have a post-concussive/traumatic headache. If the headache is accompanied by other symptoms (tinnitus, difficulty concentrating, irritability) then you might have post-concussion syndrome. Hard to say: The 5th cranial nerve is responsible for sensation to the half of the face. Irritation of this nerve may occur and can cause some of your symptoms. You may consider an MRI scan to better visualize the region of this nerve. You may also consult a neurologist to see if there are other associated nerves involved-this would be helpful in pinpoint the site of the problem. ...Read more

Can an infused ear cause me to feel discomfort in my eye, temple and cheek? How long does an infused ear normally take to heal?
Infused ear??: I have never heard of an "infused" ear. If you mean infected, then an external infection or swimmers ear can cause significant pain in the ear and around the ear. Another possibility is that your ear is fine but your jaw joint is is badly inflamed with resulting muscle pain and spasm. Jaw muscle spasm will give you all the symptoms you describe. My left temple feels different than the right one. Sometimesi feel a slight pain in my cheek too. What is it? My dentist says that I have a wisdom tooth that needs to come out on that side. I'm scared that if I get it removed, the pain will still be there
What would make you think that your pain was being caused by a tumor? You have been examined physically by a dentist who has determined that your wisdom tooth needs extraction.
If you feel comfortable with tour dentist, heed their advice and extract this tooth. On the very, very, very remote chance that it is something else, you will deal with that later. It appears that this wisdom tooth is the most likely cause.
All the best to you. ...Read more

Uh oh!: If the bite is now spreading and the swelling has increased, if taking Benadryl (diphenhydramine) doesn't help significantly, you may have an infection in the skin, called cellulitis.
