1)can patent urachus suddenly occur out of the blue at age of 20 in men? 2)can poking ur belly button punture a hole that lets urine leak out?

1) Yes. 2) No.: A patent urachus is a still open congenital connection between the umbilicus (bellybutton) and the dome of the bladder. Poking your bellybutton will not cause it. A patent urachus is manifested by urine leaking out of the bellybutton or infection of the abdominal wall or bladder. Although we usually see it in younger children, it can become apparent in an older child or adult. Surgery is needed. ...Read more

It: It sounds like you may be suffering from gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining) or an ulcer; however more serious problems like appendicitis, bleeding ulcer etc. Need to be ruled out. Either way you need to be seen by your primary care provider for a complete history of your current problem, directed physical, testing, and treatment. In the meantime, you can buy an other the counter (otc) anti-acid medication like Pepcid (famotidine) or Prilosec otc.
Good luck to you. ...Read more

2 days post period. Intense dull deep achy type pain below belly button? Serious or not?

Likely not: If no fever, nausea, vomiting probably ok. It could be your bladder if peeing a lot. If persistant get seen but try 2 aleve (naproxen) 2x per day. If its a new type pain I would put my money on bladder but likely not life threatening. Go in if it worsens though. ...Read more

Slight pain below belly button, in upper right stomach and slightly to the right of the belly button. Is it a cyst or is it appendicitis?

Slight pain below belly button, in upper right stomach and slightly to the right of the belly button. Is it a cyst or is it appendicitis?

Umbilical Hernia: It is unlikely to be a cyst or appendicitis. appendicitis not only causes pain but fever, loss of appetite, nausea, etc.... it also will worsen in a short time. Cysts tend to be short lived and resolve on their own unless very large. I would be concerned for an umbilical hernia which will cause pain that can radiate. Worse with straining and better with rest. They are easy to find on exam. ...Read more

Lower abdomen pain below belly button trailing right through intestinal. 7 hours radiates from discomfort to high. Nausea and 101 fever?

Appendicitis: If you have your appendix, you may not by tomorrow morning. This description sounds very suspicious for acute appendicitis. 3 missed periods, 2 neg. Hpt. Watery discharge, no foul smell. Pain below belly button and lower back. Increase in urination. Fatigue, feeling full.

Time to see GYN: The lack of period and the urinary frequency may be two issues. Pain could be menstrual type cramps, bladder pain or something else. At this point you should see a gynecologist or at least a family doctor if you need a referral, so that some blood tests and urine can be cultured. You probably need to have a provera (medroxyprogesterone) withdrawal and some labs done to see why your menses have stopped. ...Read more

Why does my belly button itch?

Why does my belly button itch?

Contact dermatitis: The most common cause I see for itching in that area is allergy to a metal, usually nickel. Most people wear a metal belt buckle, or have a metal snap and/or zipper on their pants, and if you're allergic to the metal in that buckle or snap, it will cause itching. Another possibility is that you may have gotten an irritating substance of some sort trapped inside your belly button. ...Read more
