Tendonitis: Probably some inflammation in the tendons on the back of the hand/wrist. Try immobiliizing the wrist with an ace wrap or brace for a week, taking some ibuprofen and avoiding activities that cause pain.

Many possibilities: At the top of the list would be some form of wrist tendonitis but other possibilities would include latent injury such as unrecognized scaphoid fracture, ligament sprains, occult masses such as ganglia, avn of the lunate (kienbock's), and tfcc injury (though surely not a classic description). You should have a good exam with plain x-rays and possibly an mri. Best of luck.

I noticed there was a strange lump at the back of my hand, above the wrist. What could it be?

Ganglion cyst: You didn't mention pain, just the presence of a strange lump on the back of your wrist. This is a classic presentation for a ganglion cyst which is just fluid collection in a pocket of joint lining or synovium. These are benign & don't spread. They can be aspirated (fluid is very thick) or we can poke a bunch of holes in cyst and let it drain on its own. Sometimes we just drop a book to break it!

Need more info: Blisters on the backs of hands could be insect bites of some sort, but autoimmune blistering diseases like bullous pemphigoid can also do this. A more rare condition called porphyria cutanea tarda also often has blisters on the backs of the hands as the main issue, and a related disease called "pseudoporphyria" can also do this. A dermatologist will probably perform a biopsy to get some answers.

Dermatographism?: You may have an overactive skin called dermatographism. See if your skin welts up when you gently scratch it. It is not anything close to being a serious illness and may be associate with dry skin as well even though the cause is often unknown.

Wrist issues-? Lump: Did you fall or were you in an accident and injured the hand recently. Ganglions are the commonest tumor in the hand and may present or become visible later. Patients may have symptoms similar to what you describe. Some smaller lesions can be diagnosed by scans. See a hand surgeon for an evaluation.

Wrist: If you have no fevers and no swelling in the area or redness the most appropriate thing to do initially would be to take Motrin over-the-counter if you do not have any problems with your kidneys and utilize ice rest and elevation. You can also obtain a wrist splint from your local pharmacy to immobilize the wrist to see if this helps

Overuse: tendonitis. I would suggest a wrist support and if not allergic the use of Advil or Aleve. If pain is worsening, you may need stoner medication or a local injection with Novocain (procaine) and cortisone. I would start with a good (sports) wrist support worn OVER a pull on tennis wrist towel
