No: x-ray is a modality that only detects abnormalities in the bone structures such as fractures and/or arthritis. I get numb along the side of my hand from the pinky to the wrist...it can extend to the ring/middle finger...Is this Carpal tunnel syndrome?
How bad is my carpal tunnel if when my hand goes to sleep i get an itchy spot on my palm right below my first and middle fingers & hurts in my elbow?
If weakness = bad: Carpal tunnel syndrome can display a number of different symptoms including the ones you have described. It is "bad" in a prognostic sense if the symptoms include weakness of the muscles to the fingers and thumb of the affected hand. The more and longer you have weakness of the hand the less likely surgery is able to relieve the weakness. Pain is pain if frequent and worsening you do the math ;). ...Read more
I have pain in hands esp. right hand - in thumb & middle finger. My thumb used to bend towards palm area of hand even when I am not working. Pain in elbow & in upper part of spine. Starting of my pain is from carpal tunnel area & now pain reaches to bicep
Prevention: I am not aware of any exercise that does this, but be aware that cts mostly is a cumulative trauma disorder, associated with repetitive flexion/extension of wrist due to keyboard work, assembly line work, etc. Might consider wrist pad for computer, might try wrist splints, at night, might supplement one b-100 complex daily, and avoid the above risks. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Complete numbness in fingers and both sides of hand. Is this carpal tunnel syndrome, if not what is it?
See below:: This could be carpal t syndrome plus cubital ts where the other nerve to the hand (ulnar) gets trapped at the elbow; and more rarely ulnar can get trapped at the wrist, on the little finger side. Also nerves getting pinched in the neck can also cause a similar picture. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

After carpal tunnel: Midl pain may be a sign of normal healing (we all go at different pace), pillar pain, pain from joints adjacent to the carpal tunnel, another source such as a trigger finger, scar sensitivity, swelling from overdoing it too soon, and the lsit goes on. Often nerve pain goes away but in more severe cases, alterd sensation may linger and shocks can be associated a recovering nerve, BUT ask UR DOCTOR! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Carpal tunnel: First I would ask you if carpal tunnel syndrome was diagnosed by physician or are you assuming this is what you have? If you do have Carpal tunnel and numbness is constant it is very likely time for surgery. This is especially true if you have tried splinting without success. You run the risk of permanent nerve damage. This is not terribly difficult or risky surgery. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What could be cause of jolts of pain down fingers when hand gets cold. Have recently had carpal tunnel surgery.?
Nerves waking up: It could be several things, but its not unusual to have a flare up of pain after cts as sensation returns. It can also be caused by scar, post-operative inflammation, and over use. Try ice and anti-inflammatories like Aleve (naproxen) or advil. If it persists, a short course of supervised therapy may help, including de-sensitization exercises like working your handa dn fingers in a pot of dried beans. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can anyone in the panel tell me what can I do for numbness in my fingers from carpal tunnel? I'm very desperate cause its my r hand and i can't work.
Correct diagnosis?: For carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist splints, topical anti - inflammatories, physical therapy to change the mechanics/ergonomics that are causing the problem, and acupuncture can be helpful. If you have progressed to the point of weakness and EMG confirms diagnosis surgery is a possibility. See neurologist or physiatrist to confirm ( other nerve irritation can cause similar symptoms. ). ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
I woke up twice this past week withy fingers tingling numb on right hand. Took a few minutes to go away. I've read it's possibly carpal tunnel?
Numbness: This depends on which fingers were numb. If it was the thumb/index/middle fingers then it is likely carpal tunnel(pinching of a nerve in your wrist. If it was the ring and small fingers then it could be cubital tunnel syndrome(pinching of a nerve in your elbow). It is also possible that you could have a pinched nerve in your neck (cervical spine) that caused radiating numbness to your fingers. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Possibly: Hand numbness, more so than wristnumbness, can be a symptom of carpal tunnel syndrome. So can pain in the digits of the hand.
