Is it safe with walking on hair line fractured talus bone. Minimal pain but swelling on ankle. Avn is not confirmed in CT scan.

Probably not: It is always better to take the pressure off particularly if there is swelling . It does not mean that you should not walk but use the boots you can buy from pharmacies or medical supply offices until you see your orthopedic doc. Do not forget to put ice pack on the swollen ankle , will help with the swelling and pain . You might as well take over the counter alive or advil (ibuprofen). ...Read more

Is it possible to be diagnosis w/hairline fx 3 months post injury? Still have pain, swelling ,tenderness at ankle. Early xrays normal. Told may be tarsal tunn

Absolutely!: Initial x-rays of bones following stress injuries are notoriously lacking in sensitivity - up to 85%+ missing hairline fractures. The fractures get picked up later either by bone scans, CT or MRI. It's actually easier to see the resultant sclerotic (scarring) bony callous (healing) than the fracture itself, which initially often is hidden by soft tissue swelling. Tarsal tunnel can be seen by MRI. ...Read more

Get an xray: you should probably get this looked at and get an x-ray. An orthopedic or put electric surgeon could help you. There are many ligaments to the ankle and foot. Burning pain above heel. Swelling beneath outer ankle. Pain increases when walkin especially on incomes or stairs. Heaviness and leg weakness to hip?

Burning pain above heel. Swelling beneath outer ankle. Pain increases when walkin especially on incomes or stairs. Heaviness and leg weakness to hip?

Problems linked?: Heaviness of the leg and hip weakness may be due to a back problem (L 3-4). This would not cause pain in the ankle (local process if there truly is some swelling) I would have the muscle CPK checked (on statin drug) the weakness in the legs is typically symmetrical if due to statin drugs but can be noticed on one side initially. If these problems persist you will need to be examined. ...Read more
