Which type of shoes can I wear after Achilles tendon surgery?

Which type of shoes can I wear after Achilles tendon surgery?

Regular shoes: After you fully recover from surgery, shoe gear modification is not really necessary. If there is not scarring on the back of the heel, then any shoe would be fine. However, you will need time to fully recover. Remember elite athletes who suffer from this injury often need a long time to recover. Please be patient and take care of yourself and listen to your doctors advice.

A friend is taking a road trip 6 weeks after Achilles tendon surgery. What problems could he have? What preventative measures should be taken?

Prevention: The first thing that comes to mind is to safeguard against developing a dvt (deep vein thrombus, blood clot). Wearing compression stockings and moving your legs (flex at hip and knee) at least every 30 minutes are good measures to take.

Achilles tendinitis: Without knowing the details of the surgery 2 years ago, it is hard to comment on it. However, the symptoms you describe sound very much like achilles tendinitis. I suggest that you see your orthopedic surgeon to be evaluated.

Why does my foot still hurt after my Achilles tendon surgery? The surgery was in may 2011

Achilles tendon pain: The achilles tendon is a very slow healing wound due to its poor vascularity. Furthermore the dependency of the leg itself may prolong wound healing due to edema. It is imperative that you follow the instructions of your surgeon and therapist and wear proper compression garments. Pain is not unusual for up to 2 years before becoming stable.

Had achilles tendon surgery 2 days ago, urinary incontinence resulted. I'm 66 yrs old with a sm amt of urgency prior to surgery. Will this get better?

Incontinence: This is normal if you had an catheter placed during surgery, which I presumed happened. Your prostate was affected. Give it some time and it should get back to your normal habits. If after a week or two, no improvement then you might see an urologist.

4 weeks after achillies tendon surgery I feel great but once and a while I get pain pulsing in the tendon. Is that a sign of healing?

Post Achilles Surg: Depends on how long it lasts. If it is short lived, you are probably stretching out the scar tissue, and that is fine. If it lasts for several days, you are over using the weakened tendon and I would analyze your rehab program. Dr rich blake.

Had achillies tendon surgery about 4 weeks ago. In a cast the whole time. Boot is next. Is this with or without crutches. Need life back.

Life: You may need your life back, but you need to be patient. That attitude will actually delay your healing or ruin the surgery necessitating another surgery all because you want to be active too soon. Follow your surgeon's instructions to the letter and you will be fine.
