What can cause shoulder pain in front of the clavicle on the left side when sitting having back support? And no pain when standing or laying
Unclear: I'll say that "in front of the clavicle" close to the breastbone is the sternoclavicular joint. The pectoralis major muscle attaches to the "front" of the clavicle, but I've never seen a strain of that muscle hurt in that location. Other small ligaments and muscles attach to the clavicle, but I just can't imagine anything that causes pain only when sitting. ...Read more
Are clavicles symmetrical or asymmetrical? Find my right clavicle protrudes out more than my left clavicle and has pain. No redness. What's the problem?
Fairly symmetrical: Hi Your clavicles should be pretty similarly symmetrical, although not perfectly. We actually are not perfectly identical when comparing left side to right side. You may notice some variations in curvature, protrusion, size, thickness, etc, but this is normal. Pain and redness, however, is not normal and probably needs further exam and maybe even x-ray. Hope this helps ...Read more

I have a sharp stabbing pain which seems to be stemming from beneath my clavicle on the left side, what should I do?
Wait before U worry: What you describe is not typical of any serious ailment unless it persists or gets worse. I would have you watch/monitor it for a couple of weeks in order to judge if it is anything significant. Most likely it will go away on its own. Or you can take a couple of Tylenol tablets if the pain is causing you much discomfort. If the pain is still present in 3 weeks, get yourself checked by your PCP. ...Read more

How deep?: How deep in the lump? If it feels like it is more on the surface, you should see a dermatologist. If it feels deeper you should get a breast exam and a mammogram from your family practice doctor. If you need to discuss this in more detail or you want me to look at the lump, you can schedule a virtual visit with me. ...Read more
