How far does the testing for a hair follicle and nail drug test go back? I am getting conflicting answers on both tests. I have been told 90-120 days or longer for hair follicle depending on length of hair and up to 1 1/2-2 1/2 years for nail testing.
Varies: The hair testing numbers are about right, with hair growing about 1/2 inch per month, and the average length of hair tested being 1 1/2 inches, which is about 90 days. Nails give 4-6 months at usual lengths. If you never cut them, or have very very long nails, you could get 1-2 years, but that is not common. ...Read more

Depends: Depends on how long your hair is, and how long ago you drank. Hair-testing looks for ethyl glucuronide, and every time you drink, there is a band representing ethyl glucuronide laid down in the hair follicle. Hair grows about 1/2- I inch per month, so if your hair is 8 inches long, the hair furthest from the follicle will give anywhere from 4-8 months of info. Other hair grows slower (body hair). ...Read more

While I suspect that you are looking to cheat on a hair follicle drug test, I will say that there is no such thing as hair detoxing. Dyes or bleaches will invalidate the test (not what you are looking for).

I had 3-4 vodka tonic drinks less than a month ago. Will this appear on an alcohol hair follicle test?
Does marijuana stay in the root of the hair follicle for 6 months, or does it get pushed out by the new hair growing in?
Long time: Thc is stored in fat cells which serve as a reservoir and release it slowly into the bloodstream and from there into hair follicles. For a long time user, the "reservoir" can be quite full and so may feed follicles at 6 mo and longer. The new hair growing out takes some follicle thc with it as new thc is being fed in. ...Read more
I'm not wondering how long THC stays in hair, but I'm curious as why it stays in the hair follicle longer than blood or urine?
Hair stays: Thc stays in the hair longer than in the blood and urine. This is because the blood is constantly being filtered (cleaned) by your kidneys and the urine is regularly eliminated from your body and replaced. Your hair, however, does not get filtered or replaced, so the thc remains. ...Read more

I had a drug test come back positive (swab) for heroine. Can A hair follicle test prove that I have been clean of any substances?
Not necessarily: The only SPECIFIC test for heroin is a test for its metabolite 6-monoacetylmorphine or 6MAM. I am not sure whether this is available in swab form, but the first thing with ANY positive test on a screening test, such as a urine drug screen or oral fluid swab is to do the confirmatory test. If they have not done that, they are not following procedure. There also needs to be chain-of-custody on it. ...Read more
How long does alcohol stay in hair? (Hair follicle test) And does frequency of use have an effect? I go out for a few drinks one day a week.
The hair test:
Can give a "look back" up to 3 months! HOWEVER it is only of use for agencies/employers with ZERO tolerance for alcohol use. IT'S TOO SENSITIVE!!!!!
If you drink AT ALL and a potential EMPLOYER is requiring a PRE-PLACEMENT hair test FORGET ABOUT THAT JOB untillyou have had NO alcohol for 90 days!!!!!
MY opinion Only
Hope it helps!
