Ovulation With A Low Progesterone Level
Yes: Low progesterone levels can affect all phases of cycle, but in fertility can affect the ability to ovulate, but not always prevent it, change your body natural response to maintaining egg and implantation, and change the cervix and cervical mucous that would allow sperm to pass through to ferilize an egg. ...Read more
My Progesterone level was 1.2, this was checked in the morning 3 days post ovulation. Day prior to ovulation ultrasound showed a 16mm follicle which was 4 days prior to test. I'm concerned its low, is this too low to conceive? Did I ovulate?
Ovulation testing: Ovulation testing should be done in the midluteal phase typically 7 days after ovulation. Testing 3 days after is a bit odd and makes it very hard to interpret the result. I would see an Obgyn and schedule official ovulation testing. These tests must be done in a particular way to get interpretable results ...Read more

23rd day of 34 days cycle showed progesterone level 36. What does it mean? Have I already ovulated or ovulating or gonna ovulate soon?
Already ovulated...: The progesterone level is usually less than 10 prior to ovulation and over 10 sometime after ovulation. Your level indicates that you HAVE ovulated. If you want to know WHEN you are going to ovulate, you need to do an ovulation prediction test. This is a test of your urine and it turns positive 12-48 hours prior to ovulation. Its frequently helpful to do both tests. Best wishes! ...Read more
Vice versa: Progesterone is the hormone produced in the second half of the cycle, and is the hormone responsible for preparing the lining of the uterus for implantation and pregnancy. My progesterone level is 5 on day 20 of 34 day cycle. On other cycles it wasn't more than 3. So does it mean I am going to ovulate?
Recheck: With a 34 day cycle you would ovulate on about cycle day 20. The progesterone level increases after ovulation so you may be checking a bit too soon to see the rise. It may be more informative to check the progesterone level on cycle day 27 to 30. By then, if you have ovulated it will be elevated and if you have conceived it will even be much higher. Good luck. ...Read more

My day 21 progesterone level was 16.75 ng/ml after a cycle of femara (letrozole). Does this mean I ovulated or should it be hire since it was a medicated cycle?
Bbt chart flat, progesterone level tested on cd21 was 9.7ng/ml, also I had a LH surge in cd9, was there an ovulation? Any risk of weak implantation?
Doubt Ovulation...: Your BBT and Progesterone indicate that you probably didn't ovulate. The Progesterone level should be over 10 if you ovulate and your BBT should show a temperature rise. Cycle day 9 is pretty early to surge, though not impossible. If you really are surging on CD 9, you may need to adjust when you get the Progesterone level done. Check a pregnancy test around cycle day 30 if no period. ...Read more
Doctor checked my blood progesterone level and confirmed am not ovulating. What would be the next step? Will he prescb any medicatn or repeat the test?
I ve a 29-30 days cycle. Doc checked my blood progesterone level at cd23 and told I didn't ovulate this month. Does blood prog shows at cd23? 24 yrs old.
Yes: Progesterone rises in blood within 3-5 days after ovulation, so if 29-30 is your usual cycle length, then cd 23 would be accurate. Do you know how high it was? I've observed many docs over-or-under call based on progesterone, if it was greater than about 2.0 it is ovulatory, if below 1.5 probably not. ...Read more

My day21 progesterone level was higher on 50mg of Clomid (clomiphene) than my 2nd round of Clomid (clomiphene) when I took 100mg (level indicated no ovulation)how can this be?
Two answers.....: First, Clomid (clomiphene) has a long half life and is still in your system when you start your next cycle and so the dose was additive to what was left over in your system. More likely is the inherent cycle variation that we see from cycle to cycle. Especially when we are struggling against some strong inhibitors of ovulation such as mod/sev pcos or hypothalamic ovulation dysfunction. Good luck. ...Read more
