Ovulation Temp Rise
I haven't ovulated(no temp rise) cd63 start spottin until cd79 wen i got full flow. Now cd86 & still period but has lightened. No cramps. Wat goin on?
Anovulation: When you don't ovulate you still produce estrogen. Ovulation stabilizes, prepares for pregnancy and cuses a normal period when it doesn't happen. If you go long enough without ovulating any bleeding pattern can follow. Abnormal bleeding can also be pregnancy related. Treating withprogesterone can fix it. ...Read more
When doing BBT (basel body temping) can your temp rise and stay up without ovulating or is the temp rise always a sign you've ovulated?
Sorry: Even with very regular cycles there is never an always with bbt. They are mostly reliable an predictive, but even trained experts don't always agree on the exact details of reading a BBT chart. ...Read more
Possible to ovulate without a BBT temp rise? It has been 24 days since my d&c and no sign of ovulation. Possible i will not ov before next period ?

Is it true that after ovulation it takes 12-24 hours for BBT to rise? And thus, if you ovulate at night or even late afternoon, your morning temp may not show it yet?
Spotting day 10/11, + OPK day 17/18, spotting day 19/20/21, BBT temp still not risen. Ovulated yet? What's happening? Not experienced annovulation
Maybe: Best test for ovulation is a blood Progesterone level of > 3 ng/ml. Other than pregnancy (which is proof positive) the other tests are less specific. I think that bbts are kinda cruel so rarely suggest that my patients do them. Opks have been shown to only increase patient anxiety and not improve chance of pregnancy. So for patients with regular cycles i suggest sex on cyclec days 10/12/14/16. ...Read more
I am using temp charting and ovulation sticks to conceive. The sticks show ovulation is on day 18 but my temp rises on day 23. What could this be?
I measure bbt. I had 3 risen temperatures for 3 days after ovulation (14th day) & then low temp for 5 days until today. Is it normal? What to expect?
Normal: What you described is normal variation during a menstrual cycle and you should expect a normal next cycle unless you engaged in sex at the fertile period, in which case you could be pregnant. If you miss your period, do a home test 4-5 days after missed period, use first morning urine and follow the instructions in the kit, carefully. ...Read more
Yes: In fact, because sperm can live a few days inside your body, you can get pregnant anytime from a few days before to a few days after ovulation. You don't have to wait for exact day of ovulation in order to try to get pregnant. If you're trying to get pregnant, start taking prenatal vitamins to minimize your risk for neural tube defects eg spina bifida. Otherwise, use protection, preferably 2 forms. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Does a rise in temperature confirm ovulation occured. Opk + and temp high day 13-24 of cycle, 6 months negative hpt?
Short luteal phase: With a +opk ovulation happens in 24 hrs and your temperature rises. A triphasic chart has 3 levels of temperatures:pre-ovulation (97.0 to 97.5), post-ovulation or luteal (97.6 to 98.6), and then a 2nd rise around 7-10 days after ovulation (3/10's - 4/10's over the luteal high). Some women with these charts turn out to be pregnant. But many do not. They should last 14 days, yours is 8 which is short. ...Read more
I have a question about basal temp and ovulation kit. i got a negative opk tue morning and a dip in bbt. i got a positive opk tue night. i got a rise ?
When does ovulation occur? When there is a rise of body temp or when my lower abdomen starts hurting?
Is a clear temp shift and sustained high temp on a BBT chart a definite indicator of ovulation? Can progestrone level rise w/o the egg released?
My basal body temp ranging from 96.6 to 97.1 before ovulation. And rise up to 97.8 after ovulation. Is it a sign of low thyroid?
Not necessarily: But thyroid is very easy for your doctor to check and tell you with certainty. ...Read more
TTC using opk's, bbt, freq sex. Pos opk 7 days ago but no temp rise. Does this mean no ovulation or pregnancy? Can pregnancy occur w/o bbt rise?
BBT challenging: The use of basal body temperature is highly inaccurate and not typically recommended in someone using a home ovulation kit. If your ovulation kit indicated ovulation then measuring BBT is not going to be helpful. A day 21 Progesterone test can be done to confirm ovulation occurred if you have doubt. ...Read more
4 days of positive opk's from Saturday. Got ovulation pain sat sun mon. No ovulation pattern on BBT chart. No pcos. Could I o without a temp rise. ?
Yes, I suggest: not doing both BBT and OPK in the same cycles. they usually contradict each other, and the OPK always beats the BBT. I also recommend strongly with the OPK you "try" (have sex) when it first turns positive; there's no good reason to keep testing afterwards to see how many days are positive. Good wishes, hope this helps. ...Read more
Is it possible to get a positive OPK and a BBT temp rise but still not ovulate? Cycle 7 trying to concieve after miscarriage (caught first time then)
Yes: It's possible, but not too likely, especially if your periods are mostly regular. Suggestion: i'd skip the BBT if you're doing opk, it doesn't add much and harder to interpret in a meaningful way. ...Read more
