Could ovulation inducing drugs prevent blighted ovum?

Could ovulation inducing drugs prevent blighted ovum?

Potentially: Most miscarriages including blighted ova are genetic and cannot be prevented. A small portion of miscarriages are related to problems with ovulation and may be prevented through the use of fertility drugs.

If I had a blighted ovum does this mean I do ovulate and I am able to have a baby?

If I had a blighted ovum does this mean I do ovulate and I am able to have a baby?

Yes: You definitely ovulated. The ultimate measure of ovulation is pregnancy. Blighted ovum most often is just natures way of getting rid of an abnormal pregnancy. Most human embryos are not chromosomally normal. Some are more normal than others and may make it to pregnancy test or beyond. We can't guarantee a pregnancy but you should do fine. If you have another miscarriage you need an evaluation.

See a specialist: You should have ovulation return in about a month after a miscarriage. There are reasons for no ovulation, including the tests you are using are incorrect. Check your bbt, opk and then your doc can also look at ultrasound and hormone levels in some cases to make a diagnosis. Failing to ovulate is usually an easy problem to correct. Best wishes.

Diagnosed with blighted ovum. Blood hCG =271. Could I have ovulated that day? Or would it take at least 14 days for another ovulation?

Diagnosed with blighted ovum. Blood hCG =271. Could I have ovulated that day? Or would it take at least 14 days for another ovulation?

HCG levels: HCG is produced from a pregnancy, and "271" is very low. Ovulation does not cause HCG production. If you had a "blighted ovum" and the HCG is still measurable, there is still viable tissue inside your womb. You may need a minor surgery procedure to clear this from your womb (uterus). Once the HCg is zero, ovulation may occur about 2-3 weeks later or more.

This: This is a very difficult and anxiety provoking situation. Honestly nothing but time will give you answers regarding the progression of your pregnancy. The good news is 2/3 people felt confident in the progression; this means the odds are on your side. My advice for you is to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. If it does not work out this time, you will try again and have success in the future. Best of luck to you.

I'm positive that I ovulated at least 6.5 weeks ago. Today on vaginal ultrasound there s nothing but gestational sac with age of 5 w.Blighted ovum?

Concerning: If you are truly 6 weeks 5 days, one would expect to see a heartbeat. However, sometimes pregnancies implant later than expected so it is worthwhile check in one more time just to be sure even though the odds are not good.

Lmp1/28.Hcg levels 8968, 8956, 12000.Yolk sac measured @ 5w6d no baby. Ectopic ruled out. Could late ovulation be making my dates wrong? Blighted ovum?

Lmp1/28.Hcg levels 8968, 8956, 12000.Yolk sac measured @ 5w6d no baby. Ectopic ruled out. Could late ovulation be making my dates wrong? Blighted ovum?

Repeat Sono.: The HCG levels you provide are meaningless without a times scale. You are about 8 days less along than would be expected from the lmp. Could be late ovulation vs blighted ovum. A repeat sono in a week will answer the question. If viable there should be an embryo and a heartbeat. Good luck.

See an REI: I would recommend you see an rei (fertility specialist) for 2 reasons. One, you should be carefully evaluated for asherman's syndrome (thin uterine lining) which is sometime seen in women after a d&c. Secondly, they can address the issue of recurrent miscarriages.

Can hCG levels go down to 0 before you bleed the sac out in a blighted ovum pregnancy? Could I ovulate while bleeding or a day or 2 after bleeding stop

Can hCG levels go down to 0 before you bleed the sac out in a blighted ovum pregnancy? Could I ovulate while bleeding or a day or 2 after bleeding stop

Blighted ovum: A blighted ovum is a fertilized egg which is not growing, and at some point will abort spontaneously. HCG levels will go to zero sometimes prior to expulsion of the blighted ovum. Ovulation may occur any time, since the blighted ovum will not prevent it, but chances are pregnancy will not result until the blighted ovum is passed.

2-6 weeks: It's a bit unpredictable, but if your periods were regular before and you were consistently ovulating, it may be as short as 2 weeks. But up to 6 weeks would be normal.

Blighted ovum: what is the likelihood of it happening twice?

Blighted ovum: Extremely unlikely that it will occur a second time in a woman's reproductive life unless you have a genetic issue.

17

17
What is the likihood of a woman having a blighted ovum twice?

Not high: The risk is not terribly high for having a second blighted ovum after the first. Generally considered less than 1%, but if you do have the second blighted ovum, then the next pregnancy has about a 30% risk of being abnormal. After 3 abnormal pregnancies the risk is at least 50% for the fourth and about 70% for the fifth.

I had a blighted ovum at eight weeks, I had d&c. Risk of recurrence?

Miscarriage: A blighted ovum or anembryonic pregnancy (empty gestational sac) unless repetitive does not increase chance for miscarriage in the future. If repetitive will need a work up for habitual miscarriage.

19

19
Can trauma cause a blighted ovum?

Very unlikley: Most early miscarriages including a blighted ovum are caused by genetic abnormalities in the pregnancy or hormonal issues. Trauma is unusual cause for a miscarriage, especially this early on.

Does smoking cause blighted ovum?

Does smoking cause blighted ovum?

Doubt it: Blighted ovum (or anembryonic pregnancy) is more related to a chromosomal or post-conception error. Nothing you can do to prevent or cause these. Smoking however, can increase infertility, miscarriage, growth restriction, and preterm delivery. No to mention the neonatal health problems including sids...So, if you're planning a family; quit, eat healthy, exercise, & update your exam.
