It varies: You have maybe 5 years of fertility, and it depends on how the tubal ligation was done, how much of your tubes remain, and the skill of the surgeon. There are very few specialists any more who do this surgery since in vitro methods have largely replaced it. These procedures need to be done on a regular basis to maintain the necessary skills. Can women get a tubal reversal done?

Can women get a tubal reversal done?

Depends: Depending on the type of tubal ligation was done. Because the tube is readily accessible, the physician will usually cut, tie and burn a large segment. The more damage a tube undergoes, the less chances that it can be repaired or that the repair will work. How much tube is left to repair. The fallopian tube needs a minimal amount of length and structure for it to be a functional tube. ...Read more

I had an ablation and tubal ligation 5 years ago. Im considering a tubal reversal. What are my risks and success rate of having a healthy baby?

Probably: In my experience, 80-90% of tubal ligations can be reversed and generally with good results. I respectfully agree with the last answer and most skilled reproductive surgeons have excellent results with ectopic rates of 5% or less and pregnancy rates in the 60-70+% range depending on age. Surgery can be done as an outpatient with an overnight stay. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Had tubal reversal tubes back together dr said length tubes were short but good flow chances of pregnacy 35 yr old healthy female ovulation on top?

How long?: Your chances depend on many things besides tubes, but if you were normally fertile before the ligation let's assume you still are. The chance of pregnancy goes down as the tubes get shorter. How long are your tubes? Studies show that with a tubal length of 4 cm or less, pregnancy rates are zero. ...Read more
