No OTC estrogen: There are no OTC estrogens. There are OTC meds that claim to estrogenic activity, but estrogen requires a prescription. Plan B, which OTC, is a progestin. If you took prescription estrogen while on Nexplanon, it would not effect the birth control, and may stabilize the endometrium, decreasing the bleeding. Talk to your GYN. ...Read more

No: That is not right unless you bled and stopped and then started bleeding again that may signify your first period after birth. Continuous non-stop bleeding after delivery x 16 weeks is not normal, otherwise, and calls for a check up with your obgyn. ...Read more

The : The simple answer is that you likely had retained pieces of the placenta that caused the bleeding, and the only way to "clean" out the uterus was via and d&c. The chance of this happening again would probably be the same as if it was your first baby/delivery. This event does not predispose you or increase your chances of having retained placenta with the next pregnancy/delivery. Try not to worry, this happens. Your doctors did the right thing. Options: The reason for bleeding may not be something one can determine. The problem can be fixed though. Birth control pills, Progesterone, Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD, nonhormal Lysteda are a few of the options. A pelvic exam, sonogram and possibly a hysteroscopy could be considered. ...Read more

See doctor: If you've been bleeding for 3 months, this isn't normal and i would make an appt with gynecologist for evaluation. It's possible that has nothing to do with recent birth, but problem with uterus, thyroid or pituitary. See a doctor for evaluation though, bleeding could cause anemia and fatigue as well.
