Would not advise: Trazodone dose is normally adjusted to improve sleep; adding a separate sleep aid makes it difficult to figure out when you have achieved the best dose of trazodone for your condition. You & your doctor will work together toward three obectives with dosing.Trazodone should help you 1 fall asleep quickly 2. Remain asleep all night 3.Not leave you groggy in the morning. See your doctor if needed. ...Read more

If no over-the-counter sleep aid works and exercise doesn't work what can I do to help me go to sleep?
Bedtime rituals: Do relaxing things before going to bed. Don't exercise within 2-3 hours of bedtime. Keep tv and computer out of bedroom. Room should be dark and cool. Avoid caffeine and alcohol. If you tend to worry, learn some relaxation exercises. If you can't fall asleep, don't stay in bed more than 30 minutes. Get up, do something relaxing, and go to bed when you get sleepy. If nothing works, talk to doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I take 25 mg of Zoloft (sertraline) in the morning. Is there an over-the-counter sleep aid i can take that won't counteract?
I've been taking a generic over-the-counter sleep aid for a few months. Could it cause the twitching in my face?
I took NyQuil about 1.5 hours ago and I still feel terrible and cannot sleep. Can I take Benadryl (diphenhydramine)? If not, can I take an over the counter sleep aid?
Same thing: They all contain Benadryl (diphenhydramine) (or similar) and thus taking another brand is likely doubling up. It probably won't hurt but may or may work either. If this is a persistent problem, then you need to have better sleeping habits (avoid bright light in the evening, no caffeine after noon, no vigorous exercise near bedtime etc). ...Read more
What is the best over the counter sleep aid for zoloft (sertraline) 50 mg induced insomnia? I also take 40mg of propranolol 2x a day and .5 clonazepam as needed
Chat w/ur Family Doc: Discuss your concerns w/your prescribing doc, whether Family Doc or Psychiatrist. You didn't mention why you're taking your med combo but I personally would try to stay away from Clonazepam & other benzodiazepines which can be addictive. Before adding 4th drug to your regimen, have you tried taking Sertraline in morning to see if you can sleep better later? Short of that, ask doc about changing rx ...Read more
