What is the best over-the-counter way to treat a urinary tract infection?

Fluid and cranberry: Serious urinary tract infections (UTI) require antibiotics. However, many people have asymptomatic utis or symptomatic ones that go away without intervention. If you drink plenty of fluid and have frequent urination to flush out bacteria and decrease urine stasis, it decreases the risk of infection. Cranberry juice has been shown to help decrease UTI as well, but not perfect.

How do I treat urinary tract infection with home remedies or over-the-counter meds?

Depends: Urinary tract infections (UTI) should be diagnosed by a health care professional. Uti is a generic term that can refer to infections anywhere in the urinary tract. However, most people use the term UTI to refer to infection of the bladder only. Bladder infections usually require antibiotics, but if it is an early infection, frequent urination (aided by increased fluid intake) might suffice.

How soon after finishing my anitibiotics for a urinary tract infection can I have sex?

How soon after finishing my anitibiotics for a urinary tract infection can I have sex?

I believe anytime: Unless there is a specific issue with your condition, the type of antibiotic you are using or some very unusual problem, taking antibiotics should not preclude one from having intercourse. If a vaginal or penile condom is used, I cannot think of a reason otherwise. Take the antibiotics as prescribed and take care of yourself. See your doctor otherwise (call or return to clinic).

What over the counter treatments are there for urinary tract infections?

What over the counter treatments are there for urinary tract infections?

None...: Do you really have UTIs? If so, is it diagnosed by urinary symptoms (Sx) alone or by Sx + urinalysis/ urine culture? There has been no OTC antibiotics for UTI, but nowadays, the OTC pill containing cranberry extract has been touted to suppress UTI-related bugs, and phenazopyridine-containing pill may help sooth urinary irritation. So, no real antibiotics avails for UTI in the US.
