What are subcentimeter follicles on your ovaries? Is this bad? Also, how big is an ovary?

Early follicles.: Follicles start small and grow throughout the month. They are usually a little bigger than 2cm when they release the egg. A subcentimeter follicle would be less than 1cm and implies an early cycle follicle. It is neither bad nor good. It is normal in a normal cycle. If you have pcos, then it is very common to have many early follicles, but they may not ovulate. Normal ovaries are 2 to 4cm. ...Read more

What does this mean? Questionable right ovary seen. Hypoechoic structure seen measuring 1.5 x 1.6x 1.6 cm? Subcentimeter follicles seen.

It sounds: Like they saw a structure which they think is the right ovary(those measurements would be normal size) but are not completely sure. Talk to your doc. If you only had a transabdominal pelvic US, a transvaginal US might be useful. Also, sometimes it can be cleared up simply with a follow up US, the ovaries can be mobile and shift into better visualized positions. ...Read more

Is immature follicles same as cysts in ovaries?

Is immature follicles same as cysts in ovaries?

No: Immature follicles have not matured to the point that they are functional. Cysts occur once they have matured but are the result of improper function. They can result from other hormone imbalances in the body such as with high androgens (testosterone/DHEA) levels or low Progesterone levels. They can also form after an egg leaves properly from the ovary and are the result of bleeding/ inflammation. ...Read more

Hi sir, today is my 10th day. I have gone for follicule study. It measures multiple follicles measuring 7 to 8mm on both the ovaries. Endometrial 6mm.?

Slow follicle growth: Your follicles are still small. Considering that you are on cycle day 10 I would say their growth is delayed. Do you have irregular cycles? Your thin endometrium is consistent with slow follicle growth. You may need ovulation induction medications prescribed to force ovulation. If you're already taking them, you might need a higher dose. ...Read more
