If bilateral ovarian follicles shows on a ultrasound...Does that means i'm ovulating with both ovaries at the same time?

If bilateral ovarian follicles shows on a ultrasound...Does that means i'm ovulating with both ovaries at the same time?

Maybe: There are usually multiple follicles on each ovary, . Usually only 1 ovary grows a follicles large enough to contain a mature egg. However once in a while a woman will make 2 large follicles and if you ovulate both will be released. That tends to happen in women as they get older or in younger women whose ovaries actually do not work as well. ...Read more

Sonogram (Definition)

An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

Yes: Yes, it will be better for you to remove it especially if it's on your right side because it could get confuzed with the appendix and you could be misdiagnosed later on with appendicitis. Since it's hemorrhagic Cyst, if it ruptured you might have serious bleeding. ...Read more

In er, ultrasound showed cysts on both ovaries, and one cyst was lumpy. Could this be ovarian cancer?

In er, ultrasound showed cysts on both ovaries, and one cyst was lumpy. Could this be ovarian cancer?

It might be.: A cyst might be simple or multi-loculated, that is, many cysts in one with many walls that could contain cancer cells. The cyst might be filled with blood, a hemorrhagic cyst, or fluid, or be something else entirely. That's why it should be examined and possibly removed by laparoscopy, etc.. It would be wise to see your doctor for an exam. Good luck. ...Read more

Is an ultrasound that examines the endometrium also good for examining the ovaries? How does one get their ovaries examined to check for ovarian cancer

Pelvic Ultrasound: A standard female pelvic ultrasound evaluates the uterus (and endometrium) as well as the ovaries. Current ultrasound technology (especially when both transabdominal and transvaginal images are obtained) is a very good screening test for ovarian pathology including ovarian cancer. ...Read more

Ovarian cyst removed 6 weeks ago. Today ultrasound &there is a 3.5x1.9x3.1 cyst on same ovary Is this possible for it to reoccur so quickly ?

Yes it can recur: The ovary is remarkable in that it can continue to produce cysts under hormonal stimulation. Even after one has been removed, the ovary has others. You are born with a certain number of these follicles and they can be troublesome ...Read more

I did ultrasound and found out a small septated ovarian cyst at my right ovary is it dangerous?

Last weeks ultrasounds showed left ovarian cyst and fluid in uterus. No right ovary was visualized and I don't think it was the 2 times prior in 2013. Should I be concerned?

Last weeks ultrasounds showed left ovarian cyst and fluid in uterus. No right ovary was visualized and I don't think it was the 2 times prior in 2013. Should I be concerned?

Ultrasounds: Ovaries can be difficult to identify if there is a good amount of inflammation in the area, gas, fluid, etc. They tend to blend in to their surroundings, unless you have a really good ultrasound machine. Next time you go in, ask the tech to identify the ovary for you, and you'll see what I mean; in some cases it is very subtle. I would discuss with your doctor. Good luck! ...Read more

I have been diagnosed with a complex ovarian cyst on my left ovary my family doctor has recommended a follow up ultrasound in 6 weeks I have considera?

SEE A GYN: U need to be followed by a gyn not your family doc, you need blood work to r/o ovarian cancer or precancer ! and u may need it removed right away depending on how big it is and what it looks like, if it is a simple cyst and not too big it can be followed which is not what u have, so demand to see a gyn. ...Read more

Hello, please explain what the finds of my recent transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound found. Right ovary 4.4 x2.9x1.1 CM simple cyst and on the left 5.5 x4.8x2.9 ovarian cyst prior ultrasound measurements were 6.9x5.8x6.5 which was smaller in size but also

Depends: It is difficult to answer your question with certainty without knowing your clinical history, laboratory findings, and detail information of the ovarian cysts. Simple cyst may be monitored over time with us but more complex cysts may require specific management. When a cyst improves in size, it's usually is a good sign but accurate measurements are not always reproducible on us. ...Read more

Can u still have endometriosis or ovarian cancer w/ a clear transvaginal ultrasound? My doc says my ovaries are normal and my tiny cyst is gone. I have tons of pelvic pain & my mom has the brca2 gene.

Yes and No: Yes: you could definitely have endometriosis with a clear ultrasound, but would not likely have an endometrioma of the ovary no: it would be pretty unlikely to have ovarian cancer with a clear ultrasound and even if you did have extremely early undetectable cancer, it would not cause pain. ...Read more

I was just diagnosed with a normal 1.7cm ovarian cyst on my right ovary via ultra sound. Is it safe if it ruptures?

I was just diagnosed with a normal 1.7cm ovarian cyst on my right ovary via ultra sound. Is it safe if it ruptures?

Sort of...: It can be very painful as the abdomen does not like any other fluid in it! not blood (why a tiny amount of endometriosis is so painful), and not cyst fluid. Might be smart to talk to doc about emergency pain meds in case you have to come to the er. It also depends on the cyst-it could have just been a ruptured follicle. If you ever get severe low abdominal pain, go to er-let them know it's there. ...Read more

My wife has overian Teratoma on her right overy diagnosed by Altrasound. Can she try to get pregnant without surgery or we should do it immediately?

Talk to GYN surgeon: You and your wife conjointly might consider discussing this with the GYN MD who made the diagnosis as well as obtaining a 2nd opinion if you are still unsure. Ovarian Teratomas contain epidermoid elements like hair and teeth which will certainly interfere with ovulation function in that ovary. ...Read more

Let me try this again one ovary larger than other ovary only shows simple folllicular cyst on ultrasound nothing abnormal can cancer present a just an enlargrment with nothing abormal on ultrasound?

Not likely: Ovaries are very active organs with monthly changes, enlarging and shrinking. Cysts come and go. Usually pelvic ultrasound is repeated after 4-6 weeks. A tumor may persist. Cancer may continue to grow. In medically literature, a size greater than 5 cm may prompt surgical intervention. Again, there are no way to rule out cancer until the ovary is removed. ...Read more
