Ultrasound found 9mm calcification on right ovary. left ovary was polycystic. I have painful periods, bloating, ovary pain. Ovarian cancer? Treatment?
It depends.: Pain and bloating can be signs of ovarian cancer, but they can be just from a painful period. Ovarian cancer would be more likely in older women, like 40+ years, and most likely in women 70+ years. Should i be concerned about ovarian ca if i had a hysterectomy 9 yrs ago have free pelvic fluid cysts on my ovary on us w/ abd pain bloating?
Unlikely, ?family hx: At 31, women's ovaries make female hormones and "cycle" even though there's no uterus (hysterectomy) to show cycling through bleeding. Every woman gets cysts on ovaries at times -- it is how we develop eggs, but our ovaries "go overboard, " make too much fluid by the egg. If it breaks open, releases fluid, blood=pain; gets better on its own. Family history of ovary cancer = see md! good luck! ...Read more

The recommendation now is not to remove the ovary even if it does not look very "viable"; it will frequently retain good ovarian tissue and remain functional. ...Read more
Why does my 3.6 CM ovarian cyst hurt? went to ER & they said to come back if having severe pain (meaning torsion) is bloating/pain really that normal?
Many possiblities: An ovarian cyst hurts due to the pressure of the fluid and the inflammation on the lining of the ovary. This will persist till the body resorbs the fluid. Bloating and sharp pain are normal for a cyst. Sever pain means a significant increase from the pain that took you to the ER in the first place. If your pain has worsened then see a doctor. If it is the same then give it time. ...Read more
