Ovarian Hormone That Sustains Pregnancy
Is there any evidence that links pregnancy-related hormone therapy treatments with increased risk of ovarian cancer?
Tough question: By this i assume you mean for in vitro vertilization. Any hormone manipulation has a potential for side effects. Increased Estrogens increases the risk of breast and cervical cancer, but lower estrogen increases risks of ovary and uterus--also influenced by Progesterone and other hormones. This is not a straight forward topic, as there are many studies that contradict each other. ...Read more
A hormone (from greek ὁρμή, "impetus") is a chemical released by a cell or a gland in one part of the body that sends out messages that affect cells in other parts of the organism. Early ovulation: You may be getting near ovulation but iris a bit early. Still the window of conception is as early as cycle day 6. Lh = 16 is a bit elevated and the cyst could be a follicle getting ready to release egg. You need to track ovulation to get pregnant or to avoid preg if you are using natural family planning. ...Read more
Unprotected sex on a 1.5 wk break from pill. If spotted 2 wks after restarted pill, does this mean hormones not sufficient to sustain pregnancy?
No: If stop & start a birth control pill, I would expect some irregular bleeding or spotting. Stick with the same pill, at the same time every day. Give it 3-4mos to regulate cycle. Over 90% of the time any symptom or "side effect" of the pill you may have had will resolve. You don't need breaks from pill & I wouldn't use what happened to you as a barometer of whether or not you can get pregnant. ...Read more
I'm 42years, trying to get pregnancy, I have AMH (antimollerian hormone test) 3.82 ng/ml, I ask if I can get it, although I 'm trying to do for18month?
AMH: Anti-mullerian hormone levels have been used to predict ovarian reserve: the number of ovarian follicles that may be viable for potential pregnancy. The value you report is in the normal range, suggesting your ovarian reserve is normal. However, this number alone can not predict pregnancy success. You should be working with a fertility specialist to pursue appropriate treatments. Good luck! ...Read more
Could i be pregnant? I had my mirena removed at the beginning of november and now we are trying to conceive. I am 2 days late and getting negative home pregnancy tests. Could i be pregnant and how long does it take for the hormones from the mirena to get
If : If your Mirena was removed mid-cycle, then there is a definite possibility that you could have gotten pregnant as soon as the next week. Home pregnancy tests are 97% accurate about a week or two after the missed period. You may have taken your pregnancy tests a little too early. There is also the possibility that the removal of the Mirena may have thrown off your cycle. Other reasons for a missed period include stress, poor diet, weight loss, excessive exercise or a hormone imbalance such as thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome. Take a pregnancy test again. If you are pregnant, congratulations! if you are not and continue to have irregular periods, contact your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
