Depends: Their is not a specific amount of time. This usually would not need to be performed immediately. If you have pain, an elevated CA-125, a family history of ovarian cancer or some other concerning feature then that would increase the urgency. Regardless, I would not wait to long. Observation: A simple cyst even above 8 cm has a very low chance of being a cancer. Despite that fact, removal would be recommended because of the chance of it causing pain or torsion.
