Ovarian cysts: Surprisingly, most of the time when an ovarin cyst ruptures they is little consequence. There can be 1 or 2 days of discomfort. Sometimes, however, a cyst may bleed internally. Occasionally, I will need to operative on a patient with a bleeding cyst to relieve pain or stop the bleeding.

Is ovarians cyst dangerous towards pregnancy. How to treat if it doenst disappeared by second trimester? If surgery required, would it affect the baby?

Is ovarians cyst dangerous towards pregnancy. How to treat if it doenst disappeared by second trimester? If surgery required, would it affect the baby?

Not really: It depends on the size and type of cysts. If larger than 7 CM (size of a tennis ball) they can twist and cause severe pain & require surgery. If they don't have cancer characteristics (they look non-cancerous on ultrasound), leave them alone. You can have surgery safely in pregnancy if needed but best minimize risks to your baby and avoid it. Check with your doc for what's best for you.

How do you know when an ovarian cyst ruptures? Is it dangerous if it does?

How do you know when an ovarian cyst ruptures? Is it dangerous if it does?

Ruptured cyst: Ruptured cysts will often cause acute lower abdominal pain. Rarely if they rupture they can cause bleeding. This is really the only time when a ruptured cyst is dangerous. Even if it bleeds it usually stops on its own also.

How dangerous can ovarian cysts be?

How dangerous can ovarian cysts be?

Complex question: This depends on many details: your medical history, your family history, features seen on ultrasound like size, solid areas, blood flow. Most cysts at age 44 if you are still having menstrual cycles will be benign, but you should follow up with your gynecologist as directed to be sure.

I'm 21 years old and unmarried. I have less than 5 ovarian cysts of 5-8 mm size. Are these dangerous? What should I have to do? Please help.

I'm 21 years old and unmarried. I have less than 5 ovarian cysts of 5-8 mm size. Are these dangerous? What should I have to do? Please help.

Normal: Cysts of this size on ovaries are a normal finding on ultrasound. Functional cysts (i.e. Egg cysts or follicular cysts) are what ovaries make every month. Selection of one of these becomes the dominant egg which normally is released during ovulation.

Would not happen US: Should not wait that long should come out now a nd u need blood work to see if it is malignant or premalignant which the blood work can give u an idea but the risk of leaving it in is that it could twist or rupture and if it is cancer (hopefully not or precancer) it needs to come out that is why I get pts coming down here from canada.

I know it's dangerous for an ovarian cyst to rupture when pregnant. Can anything be done to prevent it or reduce the risk?

I know it's dangerous for an ovarian cyst to rupture when pregnant. Can anything be done to prevent it or reduce the risk?

Not necessarily: Ovarian cysts rupture all the time and most of them cause pain without any serious consequences. Other than limiting physical activity if you have multiple cysts, there is little you can do to prevent rupture when pregnant.

I did ultrasound and found out a small septated ovarian cyst at my right ovary is it dangerous?

Probably not.: Your doctor will probably have you get a followup ultrasound. These are very common, and very rarely a cause for concern. However, if it gets bigger or bothers you, your ob/gyn will discuss options.

A 4.0 * 3.6 * 2.7 CM ovarian cyst is on m right ovary. How big is that? Can it be dangerous during pregnancy?

Quite common: It is quite common to have an ovarian cyst in pregnancy. Really the only way a cyst can be dangerous to your pregnancy is if it twists on itself (torsion) and requires surgical removal during the pregnancy. Most cysts that undergo torsion are significantly larger than yours. If you have no symptoms of pain, I would not worry at this time. If pain develops talk to you primary ob.

Is it dangerous to leave a 5-6 CM complex ovarian cyst? Wedding is in 2 months but having severe pain & discomfort. Have another smaller cyst.

Is it dangerous to leave a 5-6 CM complex ovarian cyst? Wedding is in 2 months but having severe pain & discomfort. Have another smaller cyst.

It can be dangerous: A 5-6 cm complex cyst in your age group (21 years, correct?) is unlikely to be cancerous, but not 100% impossible. At this size there is no "stock" answer, but prompt surgical removal should be considered. "Severe" pain, what does that make you think? Only a doctor who has examined you in person can make this decision, but you might want to call yours again. Sincere good wishes.

I have got an ovarian cyst in right side of 45×28 mm. .. it is anechoic and hypoechoic with no colour fill in. Is it dangerous? ? How to get rid of it

It's probably benign: The sonographic findings you describe are very suggestive of a benign ovarian cyst which is very likely to shrink on its own and resolve spontaneously over 2 to 3 months. If it does not, if it enlarges or if it is causing you pain and concerns, you may want to consult a skilled laparoscopic Gyn surgeon to discuss your options.
