I was prescribed Cephalexin for a cyst- 3 a day for 7 days. On day 3, I have developed a yeast infection. Can I ask for diflucan (fluconazole)?

Yes: Sure, no problem. Fluconazole (Diflucan) and cephalexin (Keflex) won't interfere with each other. Can an ovarian cyst cause urinary tract infections?  Have gotten a UTI two months in a row following growth and pain in ovarian cyst.

It is unlikely: that an ovarian cyst will cause a UTI. However, some women may experience similar symptoms which may be mistaken for a UTI. Careful testing of the urine is required to rule out UTI. It is easy to overdiagnose UTI.

Not sure: I would make that connection. You may want to ask for clarification and how he/she arrived at that diagnosis. I suppose anything may be possible but unless you have some type if genital infection i can't see the correlation. ...Read more

It might: Depends on cause, treatment (surgery?), etc. Maybe tests already were done or planned to evaluate for fallopian tube damage (laparoscopy, ultrasound, etc). Discuss with your gynecolgist and/or infertility specialist. Ask if "infected ovarian cyst" was a euphemism for pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or tubo-ovarian abscess, which may cause more tube damage than simple infected cysts. Good luck! ...Read more
