How long is it normal to wait for surgery to remove an ovarian cyst with septations the size is 10 cm?

How long is it normal to wait for surgery to remove an ovarian cyst with septations the size is 10 cm?

Depends: Their is not a specific amount of time. This usually would not need to be performed immediately. If you have pain, an elevated CA-125, a family history of ovarian cancer or some other concerning feature then that would increase the urgency. Regardless, I would not wait to long. Several weeks would not be uncommon depending on the surgeon's and hospital's schedule. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Cyst (Definition)

A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. They may develop nearly anywhere in the body and usually require complete excision for eradication or they are likely to recur. Fluid filled sacs that are not cellular lined ...Read more

What to do if i'm so scared. Ovarian cyst with septation. Hospital sent me home with OTC painkiller.?

Ovarian cyst: Ovarian cysts are usually simple and benign. They can be indicative of abnormal cell growth, and should be followed up with laparoscopy and a sample of tissue which can be diagnosed under a microscope. This will tell the doctor if the ovarian cyst is benign or should be removed. Septation is just a term for a divided cyst (two chambers). ...Read more

My daughter diagnosed Complex Ovarian Cyst with septation and debris. 4.3 cyst. Pain and fear. Do these cyst normslly require surgery?

No: Most of the time in young women these cysts are functional/hemorrhagic cysts and resolve by themselves. If they keep enlarging, or become more symptomatic, surgery may be indicated. If there are imaging features suggestive of tumor rather than just hemorrhagic cyst surgery might also be indicated. ...Read more

I have a complex ovarian cyst with septations and debris about 14ml in volume. It was 7ml 3 months ago. It's now pressing against my colon. Treatment?

Talk to your GYN: Your personal GYN can best answer for your specific case, but generally if the cyst is enlarging and causing symptoms by pressing against your colon it may be best treated surgically. US 3.8cm mildly complex ovarian cyst. Septations mainly in mid aspect of lesion and no vascularity seen. What does "mildly complex" mean?

Great question: Not really sure. Any thing that is not a simple cyst is called complex. Sometimes the person who is reading the report does not think it is so bad so calls it mild. But it is not really a medical term. ...Read more

Complex ovarian cyst w/intern.Septations, submuc. Fibroids, nabothian cysts, liver cyst, hernia. All new w/in last 8 weeks. Possible cancer? Type?

Slow down a bit...: Ok, you have a lot of issues just recently identified. I'm doubtful you have any cancer. Your biggest concern appears to be the ovarian cyst, which is probably benign, but you need to be evaluated by your gyn. The hernia is an elective process, and the liver cyst is probably congenital. Fibroids and nabothian cyst can also be evaluated by your gyn. Take a breath and make an appointment. Good luck. ...Read more

Ovarian cyst: The ovarian cyst with septations is small, and probably benign. The myometrial fibroid is also probably benign. A trial of "ovral" (a birth control pill) may diminish both in time, but your doctor may also want a sample of tissue from the ovarian cyst which is gotten via laparoscopy because of the septations. The chances of abnormal cell growth are small. Discuss options with your doctor. ...Read more
