Ovarian Cyst Symptoms In Young Girls
U/S says 5.6cm ovarian cyst resolved, but it still hurts all the time. What could be going on? I'm still having all the same symptoms.
A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. They may develop nearly anywhere in the body and usually require complete excision for eradication or they are likely to recur. Fluid filled sacs that are not cellular lined ...Read more
Most women have none: Ovarian cysts are common and occur monthly in cycling females. Some women will have some pain, especially if a cyst ruptures and bleeds. Most cysts go away spontaneously. Pain and pressure: Ovarian cysts most commonly present as sharp pain or pressure in the pelvis or abdomen. Sometimes patients report nausea with this pain as well. Sometimes a woman may only have pain with intercourse. The majority of women who have ovarian cysts, however, have no symptoms. An ultrasound will be performed and the woman won't have known she had a cyst. ...Read more
Time: Most ovarian cysts are simple fluid filled cysts and they typically will resolve on their own with time and with no intervention. An ultrasound can help to make sure that your cyst is benign and not concerning for cancer. If the cyst is solid but not concerning for cancer, you can manage expectantly. Some solid ovarinay cysts will never go away, however and there is not cure for them, just surg. ...Read more

Onset of pain.: On physical examination, it is often very difficult to distinguish a ruptured right ovarian cyst from appendicitis; however, with a ruptured cyst, the onset of the pain is typically "hyperacute", whereas, with appendicitis the pain often begins like a typical "stomach ache" in the upper or mid abdomen before "moving" to the right lower abdomen. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I'm just wondering, if you have symptoms of an ovarian cyst, does that mean it is a cancerous cyst?
No: Most ovarian cysts are benign and you needn't worry. Most ovarian cysts are small and are only felt intermittantly as pain. At your age, the chances of cancer are very small unless you have a strong family history of ovarian and/or breast cancer. Ultrasound are good at detecting the type of cyst you have, so ask your doctor for one if you're worried. ...Read more
Hi, I've just been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst which is measuring 6.8cm. I have no symptoms or pain will I need it removed?
Depends: Althought the cyst is large it is asymptomatic. See your gynecologist. Cysts up to 10cm as long as they are simple cysts are managed conservatively.. No other considerations are the character of the cyst and if it is complex or not. If the cyst is simple and you are asymptomatic there is a good chance you will need no surgery. ...Read more
Is having an ovarian cyst drained different to having an ovarian cyst removed? I had a cyst drained a week ago and have the same symptoms

I think I have an ovarian cyst on left side. It hurts when i lay and get up. But i don't have any other symptoms. It's this constant pain.
I have a 5.9 cm simple ovarian cyst. I have no pain or symptoms. I was told if it grows it might need surgery? What is the danger if it grows?
Important: First, are you 47 years old? I mean no offense but 50% of ages given on HealthTap are untrue. If 47 is correct the risks are torsion (twisting) and rupture. Any cyst larger than 6 cm. is a significant risk for these , both of which require emergency surgery. AT age 47 the chance of cancer, while not terribly high, is still plausible. Hence, needs removal. Good wishes. ...Read more
