Ovarian Cyst Leaking Fluid
Ovarian Cyst Fluid: The fluid from an ovarian cyst that ruptures is absorbed by your body.
A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. They may develop nearly anywhere in the body and usually require complete excision for eradication or they are likely to recur. Fluid filled sacs that are not cellular lined ...Read more
Fluid: Your body resorbs the fluid in your abdomen from the ruptured cyst.
Ccan ovarian cysts leaking exit the body and the fluid be mistaken for odd or unusual vaginal discharge?
No: This is not a physiologic process. Please see your doctor to have the discharge tested.
I had a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst burst a week ago. Is it normal to have cleared fluid mixed with blopd leak out vaginally?
Yes: The fluid discharge is flowing from the ruptured cyst through the Fallopian tubes back into the uterus/cervix and out the vagina.
Is it possible for a ruptured complex ovarian cyst to heal and then continue to grow? Mine is still there after 8 weeks and no longer leaking fluid.
Caution is needed: It is rather difficult to tell from a sonographic exam if a "complex ovarian cyst" is benign (hemorrhagic corpus luteum, an endometrioma, a dermoid or other) or is a malignant ovarian tumor. Laparoscopic surgery or abdominal exploratory surgery is unfortunately the only reliable way to find out. A careful reevaluation and consultation with a Gyn Oncologist seem advisable at this point.See 2 more doctor answers
Can a dermoid ovarian cyst leak or bleed without rupturing? Have trace amount of fluid in cul du sac but dr didn't mention rupture, just follow up 3mo
Maybe normal: There can be a normal amount of fluid in the cul du sac, but it depends on the amount of fluid seen. I encourage you to reach out to your doctor and question this finding.
Could trace free fluid in the pouch of Douglas signify a leaking ovarian cyst? Or is trace too small of an amount since it was also around ovulation.
Interpretation: It is not possible to draw conclusions based on isolated aspects of a radiology study. It is very common to find a trace amount of fluid in the cut de sac when doing a pelvic ultrasound. Without knowing the clinical circumstances no conclusions can be made a this time. Physiologic fluid can be a normal finding.
How can you tell if you have an ovarian cyst. Does it rupture and leak fluid during your ovulation times? Will there be blood in mucus also?
Ultrasound: To see a cyst you need to take a look on ultrasound. Sometime you see it and sometimes you might see a lot of fluid around that shows the cyst already burst open. It is possible to bleed but that is not common
When an ovarian cyst ruptures, do we excrete the fluid in our urine or is it reabsorbed by our body? Will the leaking fluid affect a pregnancy test?
Reabsorbed in body: When a cyst ruptures. The fluid spills into your pelvis. It gets reabsorbed into your body. It will not effect a pregnancy test.
Would a leaking/ruptured ovarian cyst that caused peritonitis likely show fluid on an ultrasound?
Probably would: Leaking or ruptured cysts contain fluid or sometimes blood. Ultrasound is excellent for looking for that fluid.
4cm ovarian cyst. Several sudden sharp pains over the last 2 days and clear fluid leaking from vagina...Could it have ruptured? In a lot of pain
It is very possible: Would recommend seeing your ob/gyn as soon as possible or reporting to er for further workup to be safe. Best of luck and hope you feel better soon!See 1 more doctor answer
Spread: This could increase the risk of spread if the leaked cells are cancerous. It largely depends on the type of cancer.
Most of the time, no: The eggs in your ovaries develop each month from puberty to menopause. The release of the egg is usually not noticed by women. Some times there may be a slight discomfort, and rarely there can be bleeding when the egg is released. The small amount of fluid released at ovuation is quickly absorbed by your body.
Go to your doctor.: Self diagnosis is very risky, especially with appendicitis. Go to your doctor or the er. A ct would be the best test to distinguish between a cyst and appendicitis. Get checked though because if it is appendicitis, delay in diagnosis can lead to rupture which can cause fertility problems in the future, or even death.See 1 more doctor answer
If I have a ovarian cyst on the right side is it normal to also have discomfort on the left? My cyst may have leaked or ruptured
Left pain: Your left sided pain could be from your colon (constipation), another cyst (ovarian), or astounding mentioned fluid that is irritating your abdomen lining (from a ruptured cyst)... The best thing is for you to see your gun to give a complete history and allow a complete physical and work up if this is bothering you.
I have been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and they said its starting to leak if I get surgery what are the chances in having a child?
Likely very good: At the time of ovulation, there will always be a cyst about an inch in diameter. That cyst will rupture (and leak) to release the egg, which could be fertilized if you are sexually active and without protection. After ovulation the cyst may enlarge up to 3 or 4 inches, and still be normal. Before having surgery for an ovarian cyst, see your gynecologist, most ovarian cysts do not require surgery.See 1 more doctor answer
Possibly: I am not sure exactly what a slow leaking ovarian cyst is. This is not a term Obgyn’s usually use. Ovarian cysts can cause a variety of symptoms. See an Obgyn for an evaluation
