Common: Most ovarian cysts are part of the normal functioning of your ovary, sometimes they rupture and bleed but the pain usually goes away in a few days. If you have severe pain then see your obgyn.
Yes: Ovarian cyst can alter hormone production from the ovary and cause irregular bleeding. If the cyst is solid then there are certain tumors called granulosa cell tumors that produce estrogen and can cause a lot of bleeding. Pepto: Pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) can cause the stool to look abnormal. It is unlikely for a cyst to cause blood in the stool, even if it is bleeding, although endometriosis can cause that. If you have another bloody stool, have increased pain, vomiting, or feel light-headed or faint, then you must be seen as an emergency.
Cyst bleeding: Pain is most common symptom of an ovarian cyst, which are common after age 40. Bleeding, however, may have more serious causes, such as endometrial hyperplasia. Bcp's can sometimes correct this, but you should see your healthcare provider for advice. Ultrasound or a biopsy of the lining of your womb should be considered to determine the cause of the bleeding.
Not likely the cause: Typically ovarian cysts don't cause bleeding unnless they rupture or get twisted onto their own tubes etc...Light bleeding after sex is quite common for those having a male partner who is a bit on the long-side--repetitious trauma of the penis pushing/thrushing on the cervix which can bleed a bit. If u have some cervical polyps, fibroids, infections, cancer, bleeding is even more common. Good luck.
