How does a biopsy of an ovarian cyst happen?

Usually not: Usually biopsies are not performed on the ovary. Rather if there is a cyst or mass that is suspicious, it will usually be removed entirely, either with or without the rest of the ovary. However not all cysts need to be removed. Sometimes a cyst can be a normal finding. ...Read more

5 days ago I had an ovarian cyst removed...Biopsy results are not available yet. Hypoglycemia is out of control. Thoughts?

No: In my 35 years of practice, I have never seen a case of reactive hypoglycemia. The disorder doesn't exist, if you're overweight the symptoms are a natural response to your glucose level returning to normal. A glucose tolerance test (if you've had one) is not and never will be a valid diagnostic test for hypoglycemia. Don't waste your money o GTT or any fad diets of treatments. Lose wt if heavy. ...Read more

There: There are many things to consider here. One is your age, also do you have children? What was your doctor's recommendation? Have you seen a gyn/oncologist? If not you should do so for a different opinion/perspective. Honestly I can't make a recommendation based on the limited info. I have, therefore I encourage you to get a second opinion.
I hope other doctor's here on avvo. Com can lend their opinion as well.
Good luck. ...Read more

Ok: If it is a benign cyst please do not worry. Most systems are benign however in a 64-year-old woman there is a small chance of malignancy. The pathologist will review the tissue and make a biopsy report after the surgery to ensure that it is benign. ...Read more

I have a 4.7 CM ovarian cyst, very painful! It was found TWO years ago at 3 cm. Should I have this removed? What is the procedure to remove it?

Ovarian Cyst: Most ovarian cysts, even larger ones, will usually resolve spontaneously in younger women. However, if it is very painful for you, you can have it removed by laparoscopic surgery. A camera is placed into the abdomen and it is removed through a tiny incision. It is an outpatient procedure. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Does tubal test hurt? I am a virgin. I have an ovarian cyst so I will be undergoing laparoscopic procedure. They will also do the tubal test..

Tubal Test?: I believe you are referring a test to see if your fallopian tubes are patent (chromopertubation). If done during the laparoscopy you will be under anesthesia and you won't feel it. Obviously you will have some pain from the surgery.
Are you trying to get pregnant? Don't see the need for it unless you have problems conceiving. ...Read more

Is ovarian cyst removal surgery an inpatient or outpatient procedure now?

Ovarian cysts: Most ovarian cysts can be removed laparoscopically which is an outpatient procedure. It is nowadays unusual to have to be inpatient for this. This obviously depends on the expertise of your surgeon. Advanced gynecological laparoscopists rarely have to perform a laparotomy (open surgery) for ovarian cyst removal. Davinci robot-assistance may facilitate a minimally invasive approach. ...Read more

A recent scan shows I have ovarian cyst and fibroid tumors. Can one surgical procedure take care of the cyst and fibroid tumors?

Yes: A laparoscopic procedure could likely take care of both procedures, depending on size and location of fibroid, in addition to skill of surgeon. Otherwise, they could also make a cut in the abdomen, like for a cesarean, and remove both as well that way. Again, all of this depends on the size and location of the cyst and fibroid. If the fibroid is in uterine lining, then a hysteroscopy better. ...Read more
