Is it normal to bleed really heavy after an ovarian cyst ruptures? I had a 7 CM cyst removed a yr ago and tend to get larger cysts, but I never bleed.

Possible: Ovarian cysts often throw off your cycle and it is common to get a heavy period after they rupture, especially if you have missed a cycle or two. If you get frequent cysts, you may have pcos and benefit from treatment with something like metformin. If your bleeding is very heavy right now you should call your doctor. A few days on Lysteda may help it resolve more quickly. ...Read more

Should my 7 CM ovarian cyst be removed? I am in a lot of pain, especially when I move (even w/lortab) I get cysts every month, but never this big.

Possibly: Ovarian cysts are common and usually resolve without treatment. Removal may be considered if it persists, enlarges, twists, is painful, has a worrisome appearance, or is very bothersome. Oftentimes the discomfort women feel may not be caused by a cyst so be sure that the cyst is the cause of your pain. Birth control pills can be helpful to prevent future cysts. ...Read more

Are there medications other than surgery to decrease the size of large benign 13 CM simple ovarian cyst or at least prevent it from getting bigger?

Are there medications other than surgery to decrease the size of large benign 13 CM simple ovarian cyst or at least prevent it from getting bigger?

No: There are many reasons a 13 cm cyst needs to be removed by surgery: unknown type, rupture, torsion, ... often the cyst can be removed without removing the ovary. It would be w-a-y outside standard of care (at least in the US) to "observe" this rather than remove. If it hasn't been removed for tissue, how do you really know it's benign? ...Read more

Does an ovarian cyst larger than 6 CM have to be removed if you have a history of ovarian cancer in your family? The cyst has enlarged over 3 months.

Ovarian cyst: Ovarian cancer can present as cystic lesion. It is sometimes not easy to differentiate benign cyst to malignant cyst. Thus, if the cyst is big and growing-a surgical resection should be seriously considered. Talk to your gynecology oncologist and discuss more in regard to surgery etc. The risk for you is even more significant with the positive family history of ovarian cancer. Good luck. ...Read more

A 4.0 * 3.6 * 2.7 CM ovarian cyst is on m right ovary. How big is that? Can it be dangerous during pregnancy?

Quite common: It is quite common to have an ovarian cyst in pregnancy. Really the only way a cyst can be dangerous to your pregnancy is if it twists on itself (torsion) and requires surgical removal during the pregnancy. Most cysts that undergo torsion are significantly larger than yours. If you have no symptoms of pain, I would not worry at this time. If pain develops talk to you primary ob. ...Read more

I have 2 ovarian cysts 1 on each side both are large 7 cm and 10 cm what are the chances my doctor will be able to save my ovaries when doing surgery?

Excellent: In general the is an excellent chance of saving the ovaries if we are dealing with a simple cyst.
if the cyst is complex and might have solid component, then the risk and the suspicious of cancer increase.
surgeon job is to save the ovaries as much as they can unless there is a risk of cancer then we have to balance between fertility and survivals, and survival always win. ...Read more

I have an ovarian cyst on right ovary found in ct of abdomen. Measuring 6.3x5.4x4.9 cm. How large is this and should I be concerned.?

See your Ob/Gyn: A 6.3cm ovarian cyst is the size of a large orange. A cyst that size is an abnormal finding. What is done about it depends on your age, what the cyst looks like on ultrasound, what other ultrasound findings are present (such as fluid in the abdomen) and in some cases on labwork. You need to be seeing an Ob/Gyn about this as they are trained to know what to do next. Best wishes! ...Read more

Wait: Cysts come and go with your cycle. While 4.7 cm is a little larger than usual it is not big enough to be of concern. As long as it is a simple cyst and unless it is somehow symptomatic, you do not need to do anything. If you are worried, recheck it after a couple of cycles. ...Read more

Ovarian Cyst: Most ovarian cysts, even larger ones, will usually resolve spontaneously in younger women. However, if it is very painful for you, you can have it removed by laparoscopic surgery. 4 1/2 CM ovarian cyst, what will the doctors do?

Depends: At 4 1/2 cm if it's a simple cyst, then it may not need to be operated on at all. At that size, many of these cysts do resolve on their own, considering, of course, that they are simple and filled with solely fluid. Having said that, if the cyst is causing twisting of the ovary, if there's severe pain, then doctor might have other recommendations. ...Read more
