Ovarian cancer: Tumor coatings of the liver are very frequent in ovarian cancer. They are readily ablated safely at the time of primary debulking. Ovarian cancer can invade the liver but happens through blood-borne spread not direct invasion. ...Read more

Better: Stage IV ovarian cancer is a advanced stage IV addition beyond peritoneal cavity with 15.5 % of 5 yr life expectancy. Debulking of the tumor will reduce the tumor burden on host during chemo, will have better quality of life , obstructive symptoms will be relived, will enable to push to 15.5 % group. Ofcourse stage ii has much better prognosis. ...Read more

My sister had ovarian cancer. She did 6 quimo and dr. Found liver metastasis. Please, tell me the best treatments and survival rate. ?

Ovarian cancer: Treatments for this depend entirely on the time from the end of he last chemotherapy until the diagnosis of a new recurrence or progression of disease. If it is immediately after her initial 6 chemistry after her initial debulking surgery than it is much worse than if her initial debulking followed by 6 chemos was 2-3 years ago. ...Read more

Stage 3c ovarian cancer in 2011 done several chemo drugs now in liver and have colostomy doc says if no more chemo qual of life 6 mo fair assessment?

Doc may be right: I can not fully answer your question without knowing which chemotherapy drugs have been used(we have 5-6 good drugs for ovarian cancer). But once the cancer becomes resistant to all drugs then life is short...Usually a matter of months than years. But you can get a second opinion from another oncologist if you want to be absolutely certain. ...Read more

My mom aged 75 got recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer, with peritoneal fluid. CT shows no liver or lymph node What is life expectency with Treat?

No way to tell: Some of these are super-slow growers and she may have more good years ahead. Her oncologist can look at the pathology report and tell her the chances -- and it's always "percentage odds" rather than life expectancy. ...Read more

Mom 60. Abdomen CT shows has hypo dens liver masses no hbs afp 4.46 echinococesus <1:16 ca-125 >5000 is its ovarian cancer or not & on which stage

It is likely a cance: A high ca 125 leads us to look for ovarian cancer as the most likely cause(sometimes it is due to primary perotoneal cancinoma or fallopean tube tumor). The ct scan may show some intraperitoneal disease or pelvic disease including ovarian massess. But she needs a biopsy proof of cancer and then will likely require treatment for ovarian cancer which often includes debulking surgery and chemotherapy. ...Read more

Stage IV ovarian ca: Unfortunately, it is likely that she has stage IV ovarian cancer with spread to the liver. Nothing else would give a ca125 of 5000. She should be on biopsied for a diagnosis and be on systemic chemotherapy which can be very helpful in selected cases. ...Read more

Why does abdomen fill up with fluid when ovarian cancer is present?

Why does abdomen fill up with fluid when ovarian cancer is present?

Not always the case: Ovarian cancer can cause inflammation which can result in fluid accumulation in the space surrounding the intestinal tract called the peritoneum. Some types of ovarian cancer make mucous which can also fill this space. Both situations cause fluid accumulation, weight gain and bloating. However, ovarian cancer may not cause these symptoms which is why regular checkups are important. ...Read more
