I have heel pain and foot pain on the outside of foot immediately in front of the heel. It seems to get aggravated after running or being on my feet.

Varies: There are a number of possibilities and I would not hesitate to be seen. Plantar fasciitis is one of the more common causes of heel pain and usually causes pain "immediately in front of the heel." If you are a runner, a calcaneal stress fracture can be another consideration. A detailed exam and appropriate studies would likely determine the cause

Pain in foot after running. Help?

Pain in foot after running. Help?

Dr.: If the problem is chronic, go see a dr., better if a foot doctor (podiatrist.) in the long "run, " I would soak in ice, and also see if I possibly need a different style or brand of running shoe. You may need orthotics.

Recently I have swollen and painful foot arch after running, how should I treat this?

Recently I have swollen and painful foot arch after running, how should I treat this?

Ice and support: Usually this is due to a lack of support in your shoes. Ice the area to reduce the swelling and either purchase orthotics from your podiatrist or some form of support to aid you in running. Get out of those old shoes.

Stop Running: With any strain or injury, it's very important to rest the affected foot. There may be a tendon or ligament injury and with further running it could worsen. Have a specialist examine it if you have no improvement!

Very painful foot after running last time, could it be a stress fracture?

Very painful foot after running last time, could it be a stress fracture?

Maybe: Having pain after (or during) activity is not a good sign. There is a possibility that you have a stress fracture, it could also be many other possible conditions. The first thing to do is back of on your activities, allow the symptoms to resolve, then slowly progress back into activities. If the symptoms do not resolve or return quickly, you should be evaluated by your doctor.

I get foot pain while running. Should I raise or lower myheel?

Usually no: Raise the heel if there is pain under the heel or at the heel attachment of the plantar fascia. If it;s tender there and painful on stretching the foot upwards use a heel lift in the shoe. Ice bath at night is also helpful, forefoot and arch pain perhaps could use an orthotic otc cushion. Make sure there's np more than 250-300 miles on your shoe.

Yes: If shoes are too large you feet will slide around in them and you will not be receiving proper support in the needed areas.

Top of foot pain, worse with light activity. Shoes roomy. Running barefoot feels good. Have to remove socks at work. Squeezing midfoot causes pain?

Need more info: Sounds more like neuroma pain with the shoe part as well as the squeezing of the foot, but not where the pain is. Neuroma pain occurs around the toes underneath. Sounds like some kind of nerve compression somewhere. Have it checked

Do I need to go see a dr at this point? Hello – can anyone help me with a continuing foot pain I have? I injured it running at the end of july. I’m pretty sure it’s planters fasciitis – pain in heel for a while, then relocated to 2 toes lately (probably j

While: While it's entirely possible to develop plantar fasciitis from an injury, by far, the most common presentation with plantar fasciitis is the slow, gradual onset of pain with no associated trauma. Pain is commonly described as heel pain, worse especially after rest. If you injured your foot back in july and you're still having pain, there is a fair chance you may have broken a bone or tore a ligament. I would therefore say yes, by all means, go get this checked out. I only hope that you haven't waited too long, because if it's been fractured or a ligament torn for all this time and you've been walking on it, the odds of a complete recovery at this point is severely compromised. Please go to either a podiatrist or foot& ankle orthopedist and get checked out.

Chronic top of foot pain following excess standing. Post walking/running pain. Mri neg. For stress fx or tendonitis. No obvious dx. Ideas?

Chronic top of foot pain following excess standing. Post walking/running pain. Mri neg. For stress fx or tendonitis. No obvious dx. Ideas?

Probably Tendonitis: Even though your mris were negative, low grade tendonitis of the extensor tendons on the top of the feet can be negative on mris. If the top of your foot hurts to pull your toes up and/or down, probably 95% chance of tendonitis.

Be seen: I would definitely be seen rather than give up your previously more active lifestyle. It may be something as simple as a minor foot malalignment issue that may completely respond to an orthotic or change in your shoe wear. Be seen.

Possible Baker's: Baker's cyst. Follow up with an orthopod that can evaluate you for this. Usually happens in the back of the knee, and presses on nerves and arteries which cause pain and burning sensation to the foot. Definitely get it check out.
