Pain @ 11d is common: When fluid and swelling are present in the knee, you will usually see it on outer part of thigh. If a tourniquet was used it can also cause residual but temporary pain in thigh. If the surgeon did a lateral release that also causes pain on outer thigh. I would see a pcp: Definitely I can see why you would come here. But it would be weird to develop bruises on the surface. I am thinking that in the absence of trauma it is weird for you to experience this. You are right to think that it may be a clot that caused the pain.
