Pain @ 11d is common: When fluid and swelling are present in the knee, you will usually see it on outer part of thigh. If a tourniquet was used it can also cause residual but temporary pain in thigh. If the surgeon did a lateral release that also causes pain on outer thigh. If pain is severe you should have your doctor examine to make sure there is not an infection or determine if fluid needs to be removed from knee. ...Read more

I would see a pcp: Definitely I can see why you would come here. But it would be weird to develop bruises on the surface. I am thinking that in the absence of trauma it is weird for you to experience this. You are right to think that it may be a clot that caused the pain. I am thinking that it may be something that you need follow up for. I do wish that I could give you an answer. But I'd follow up with my PCP ...Read more
