Otc Sleep Aids Alternative To Tramadol
Best med to switch to from ambien that helps with sleep onset problems? Lunesta (eszopiclone) nor trazodone work.
Good medicines that work for insomnia. I've tried ambien, (zolpidem)ambien CR, restoril, metrazapine, silenor, trazadone, also OTC meds and nothing seems to work?
Ambien (zolpidem): Zolpidem (Ambien (zolpidem)) is indicated for short-term treatment of insomnia with difficulty of sleep onset. Ambien (zolpidem) produces tolerance and dependence when used long-term. Although trazodone is efficacious for sleep maintenance difficulties, its use in insomnia is off-label and is associated with cognitive and motor impairments. Long-term treatment with medication alone is not the optimal treatment strategy ...Read more
Not a problem: Over the counter sleeping pills (usually containing Diphenhydramine or benadryl) should not be used regularly as they cause daytime sleepiness, decreased attention and memory, and tolerance develops. However, there is no specific problem in taking them with sertraline (zoloft). ...Read more

Terrible insomnia. Can't take ssri or snri. .5 ativan (lorazepam) each night for sleep. Is this ok? Over the counter doesn't work. Does accupunture work for insom
It can ...: Acupuncture has been show to reduce anxiety in some well controlled studies. Ativan is a very commonly used medicine for insomnia - however - there are newer medicines (eg, Belsomra) which target the sleep cycle directly which might be a better option. The other option I have used alone or in combination with other treatments is Rozerem (ramelteon). Hope that helps! ...Read more
What puts you to sleep faster? 150 mg Trazodone or lunesta (eszopiclone) 3 mg? Which med is a stronger sleep aid?
Lunesta (eszopiclone): Trazodone was originally introduced as an antidepressant, but was found to help induce normal sleep. Lunesta (eszopiclone) was developed for use in chronic primary insomnia, and has demonstrated rapid onset, adequate duration, and no significant tolerance or side effects over time. ...Read more
Why do sleep aides (benadryl, ambien, sonata (zaleplon) ,lunesta, prosom, elavil) not work for me?
What sedatives work best Ambien cr, sonata, (zaleplon) lunesta, rozerem or silenor?I take restoril but doesn't work.I can't sleep unless i take an extra seroquel.
Don't get dependent: Taking more and more sleep meds is a dangerous path. Figure out why you can't sleep; see your primary care md first. Eliminate caffeine; don't exercise too late in the evening; stay away from your cell phone and other bright screens just before going to bed. Don't go to bed until you're sleepy. May need referral to sleep lab. Try to get off all sleep meds. Good luck! ...Read more
Why won't doctors prescribe halcyon or Valium for chronic insomnia when ambien and lunesta (eszopiclone) won't work?
I've tried otc sleep aids and 6mg lunesta (eszopiclone) and 20mg of ambien. What other sleep medications are available I could try?
Which would you rather have a patient take for insomnia, rozerem (ramelteon) or an OTC melatonin supplement?
Evaluate first: Before medicating at all, i would rather the patient have a thorough evaluation of the insomnia. It has many possible causes, many of which can be eliminated with healthy sleep hygiene alone. In the right situations, melatonin can be very helpful (like disrupted sleep cycle due to traveling through time zones, etc. Rozerem (ramelteon) is a melotonin receptor agonist, not melatonin itself. ...Read more
Are there any natural or OTC sleep aids i can take that won't interact with seroquel (quetiapine) XR and lithium?
Melatonin: Melatonin is the hormone that turns on the sleep cycle in our brain. Versions sold otc are very safe and fairly inexpensive and do not interact with other medications. You can also try Diphenhydramine such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) but it may make you more sleepy the next morning. ...Read more

TheRoadBack.org: Clozapine is not an "addicting" medication -- it is an antipsychotic used mainly in schizophrenia. I am familiar with theroadback.Org -- but they do not have any supplements called "ambesleep" or "somabien." I do not recommend going off your antipsychotic medication without working with your psychiatrist, as symptoms could re-emerge. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
