Can glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis?

Can glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis?

Variable: Some people report considerable relief with this combination, others report no help at all. Interestingly, in dogs, relief is much more common. The only way to find out is to try it for 3 months as it may take that long. Consider adding msm to the regimen as that acts as an anti-inflamatory and can also help. As always, check with your primary care physician first. ...Read more

Chronic pain fr hip to thigh.Sometimes stiff n worsen by movement.Osteoarthritis?Glucosamine+chondroitin+msm help?

Maybe hip bursitis: It is likely that you have a condition called trochanteric bursitis of your hip--it is inflammation of the area surrounding the curve of the hip-thigh bone. My grandmother is 70 and her doctor told her she has osteoarthritis. Does glucosamine and chondroitin really work?

Yes: The combination of glucosamine and chondroitin has been shown in studies to (1) provide a degree of pain relief in the short term, and (2) trigger growth of new cartilage when taken for at least two years straight. So it can help you pain and reverse some of the chronic damage. You can find this in the health food store. MSM is not necessary and adds to the cost of the product. ...Read more
