Ortho Evra Alcohol
Not normally: Unless there was very severe liver disease, alcohol intake would not impact effectiveness of birth control pills. But interference with effectiveness would be possible if there was severe liver damage impacting the metabolism of the pills. In most cases this would cause increased hormone levels and bleeding issues. But decreased effectiveness is possible too. ...Read more

Given ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) lo & provera for regulating period. Start ortho sun for 24 days & provera thurs 1x daily for 10. Is it ok to take it w/ortho?

There are many different progestoerones and a different one from the one in orthotricyclin may have less of a mood effect. Norgestimate (in your pill) is usually well tolerated but some feel drospirenone (in Yaz, (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) and others) may be better. ...Read more

Yes: Oral contraceptive pills have 2 hormones - a progesterone and an estrogen component. Sprintec is a monophasic pill ie the progesterone and estrogen components are fixed and does not vary with the last 7 pills hormone free (inert). Ortho tricyclen, the progesterone component increases weekly up to week 3, and the last 7 pills inert. I find that there is more break through bleeding with tricyclen. ...Read more
