Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) vs mirelle: should I change contraceptive pills from one to the other?
No, you don't: Both pills have been implicated in having caused blood clots in women. If you have taken one or the other for more than six months to a year and it has been working for you, stay on it. ...Read more
Check a PG test: Assuming that is negative, many pills do not build up enough tissue in the endometrium to cause a period and the way to show that is a pelvic ultrasound that I do in my patients to prove there are no problems. If that is normal you can either continue with the pills, as you do not have to have a period on the pills( many women like that) or switch to a higher dose pill to get periods. ...Read more
Probably OK: Generic versions of medications are usually fine, but they are not identical. The fda allows for a modest degree of difference in "bioequivalence". Essentially, a generic medication is allowed to be sold if it is between 80% - 125% of the brand name medication. Most generic medications are fine for most people, but there is always some percentage of patients for whom they are different. ...Read more

Probably not: The change in pills can throw your period off. The junel is very low dose and therefore causes periods to be very light -sometimes just spotting. I usually take orsythia bcp every night at 8pm but i absent-mindedly took it at noon today. I am halfway through the second week. What should I do?
Too short. See below: The safest course is to take your next dose at the regular time ; use condoms ; vaginal spermicide until you start the next pack. If you have take taken 11 or 12 pills, you are probably safer than if you missed an earlier pill. Birth control: If you have been taking this for more than 10 days you have achieved a steady state, and although not ideal, the probability is that you are safe enough.
