Oraquick: Is approximately 92% for test sensitivity (i.e., the percentage of results that will be positive when HIV is present). This means that one false negative result would be expected out of every 12 test results in HIV infected individual. The oraquick in-home HIV tes has an expected performance of 99.98% for test specificity ...Read more
Took a oraquick home oral swab exam 3 months after sex and it was negative. Took another one a month later and it was also negative. Is it accurate?
HIV oraquick: A positive oraquick HIV test doesn't mean that an individual is infected with hiv, additional testing should be done in a medical setting to confirm. A negative test result doesn't mean that a person is not infected with hiv, particularly when exposure may have been within the previous three months. If negative at 6 months it is unlikely you have hiv. If concerned see your doctor to reconfirm. Tx. ...Read more

HIV antibody tests:
No. The antibody testing that is the routine way to test for HIV is not a good test for such a time this close to exposure.
But, there is the HIV pcr dna tests. These would be conclusive at four weeks. Unfortunately, this type of testing is not available as a home test. ...Read more
Is oraquick home HIV test accurate? My boyfriend and I both got negative test result and I want be sure it is accurate. Thankyou
More or less:
If done correctly a negative result is reassuring. However, it depends on when you may have been exposed to HIV as it may take occasionally take 6-12 months for antibodies to form. You may repeat the test in 6 months and if it is negative and both of you have been in a mutually monogamous relation, that would be good.

1 month after HIV exposure, I had a PCR DNA, it was negative. 8 months later I used Oraquick Home and it was negative. Are my results conclusive?
Yes: ELISA or enzyme linked immunoassay for detection of antibody against HIV has a window between 30 days and up to six but after initial HIV exposure. Western blot it's a confirmatory test if the initial ELISA test is positive. However, rapid qualitative immunoassay for antibody against HIV virus alone is not indicative of negative HIV test since The virus can be dormant for several months. ...Read more
Would an Oraquick home test tell me if I have aids or hiv? The incident would have been years ago and I had a neg result test last year at home.
Relax buddy: Don't even do the ora-quick. You did not contract HIV from that adventure way-back-when. Most guys do some exploring with a few friends when we're young, and my hope is that it's a memory that you'll ultimately treasure, though you've moved on to other things. You loved and were loved, someone else remembers you as very special, and you were fine afterwards. Give thanks 4 good health. Cheers man. ...Read more

HIV scare?: If I understand, your question is whether you are HIV positive after an exposure twelve years ago. If you are not obviously severely sick and your blood test at your doctor's was normal, you're not infected. Keep living a healthy lifestyle and if you have obsessive thoughts that you are hiv+, your brain may be playing tricks on you & this itself is worth discussing with your physician. ...Read more
2 false pos ELISA HIV tests, all 1 1/2 years post exposure. Neg western blot, ifa, naat and 2 neg oraquick home tests. What is my HIV status? Help!
Likely negative: There is typically a "window" of 3-6 months after exposure where you could be HIV positive but test negative. Since you didn't get your testing until well after that, i'd say the confirmatory tests (western blot, ifa) are what you should go by. The elisa is very sensitive and can have false positives- that's why we rely on the confirmatory tests. I would consider your status to be negative. ...Read more

Can I have full blown aids and test negative twice on oraquick at home test? After 2 years of risk event
Oraquik test: Sensitivity is about 92% and specificity is above 99%. Hence you can have a false negative in every 12 to 13 test. Hence if suspicion is high a negative test needs further testing. A positive test while not absolute has very high probability of accuracy. This home test has very high probality of predicting HIV if the test is positive. Its ability to exclude HIV is lower. ...Read more
I took the Oraquick at-home test and got the faint line on the C to indicate a negative result. Just want to be super sure that that's right. I wonder if I swabbed my gums enough?
I took a oraquick at home HIV test that you buy from drugstore 6 years after possible exposure. Is that too long after to take it? I did two of them to be extra sure, if that matters. Both negative.
HIV: It is never too long or too late to get tested if you had a possible exposure to HIV and want to know if you contracted the disease. It can however be too early for some people if they test too soon after an exposure to catch the virus before it becomes apparent on usual blood screening tests. ...Read more

How accurate is Oraquick - hiv home kit after 3 months? The condom broke and I noticed after 20 seconds. Can I I trust the results after 3 months?
Lab is better: Formal lab testing is better but Oraquick has decent sensitivity. It's recommended to test again months after initial exposure because you may not become HIV positive right away if you have been exposed. Yes, you can trust the results, the home kit has decent sensitivity, but if there's a high chance you were exposed, go get a blood test done. ...Read more
