Not really: In fact, the peel (zest) contains flavorful oils and is used in many desserts. Make sure to wash well to remove surface pesticides and dirt. I am not aware of any nutritional benefit of the better white pith, beside maybe some fiber. ...Read more

Pesticides: All fruits should be well washed because of the use of pesticides often used by the growers. Of course the peel contains the brunt of the pesticide. I don't feel that there is any significant difference between apples and oranges in that regard except you don't eat the peel of the Orange usually. ...Read more
