Communicate: With your primary care MD and General Surgeon. If this has been a long term problem that has failed medical therapy you may be a candidate to get a Nissen fundoplication at time of your surgery or at least be able to get your symptoms under control. Acid reflux: Acid reflux may be a separate problem, more noticeable since your gallbladder surgery. Start with TUMS (calcium carbonate), (calcium carbonate) they are inexpensive and available without prescription. Then get in to see your regular doc, report the results with TUMS (calcium carbonate). You may need a prescription or EGD, (a scope to look at esophagus and stomach). Be well. ...Read more

Not typically: GERD typically does not cause right upper quadrant pain. Depending on the nature of your systems, bile duct problems (such as a retained stone or bile duct stricture) could explain your systems. Bloating and pain: Regardless of your prior history and surgeries, your current symptoms of bloating/swelling in the abdomen and pain should be evaluated. Cholecystectomy: Or removal of your gall bladder can cause diarrhea due to the bile salts. If this is what you are calling dumping, ask your doctor about a trial of Cholestyramine 1-3 times per day. This will usually fix the diarrhea but needs to be taken regularly. ...Read more
