Are you being evaluated or treated for an underlying disorder that has made you more susceptible to infection? Need to be certain the proper med is given for the diagnosis. May need to see an infectious disease specialist. ...Read more

No good data: Griseofulvin can increase metabolism of the hormones in bcp's and therby reduce blood levels of the hormones and risk pregnancy. Azole antifungals don't interfere with liver metabolism of bcp's. There have been case reports of unintended pregnancies & late withdrawl bleeding with itraconazole but these are not listed as warnings with itra. Both can cause liver injury & need physician follow-up. ...Read more

Too soon to tell: Even if it is wildly successful, it takes several months with sporanox (or Lamisil (terbinafine) oral or even laser therapy) to see results. It is because nails grow so slowly and the new nail--the back of the nail--will hopefully be clear, but it takes several months for the new nail to become visible. If working, the nail will grow in like a window shade with progressively more of the nail being clear. ...Read more

I still have fungus, so do I need to get a refill even though my doctor prescribed me itraconazole (15 pills)? I've had fungus for like 5 years
Location Dependent: Treatment of a fungal infection depends heavily on the type of fungus and the location in/on the body where the fungus resides. Toenail fungus requires 3 months of treatment in most cases, and then you must wait for 12 months or so before the nails grows out normally.
