Oral Gonorrhea Sharing
Don'tBogartThatOrgan: That bacterium requires a nice warm moist place to hang out. In the throat that is generally way in the back, so it would take quite an effort to get it on the draw end of a cigarette. Same for a toilet seat or a door knob or the floor shift of your '84 Malibu (well, in most cases). Also, it requires the right type of acceptable tissue to jump on to--again, a nice moist and warm place. Feel better? ...Read more
Less Likely: If you share a drink or a cigarett with someone who has oral gonorrhea its unlikely (but not impossible) for transmission to occur. As far as I know, no case like this has ever been documented so it would be pretty rare. I'd still be careful about this because there are other infections that do easily transmit in this way such as oral herpes and Mono. Best wishes! ...Read more

Some say that gonorrhea goes away on its own after months. Since I never got my oral/rectal tested (but urine checked annually), should I be worried?
Maybe: If you are foolish enough to neglect it. Forgive my frankness. If you were diagnosed with this by a competent physician, and refused antibiotic treatment because of superstition or something you read on the internet or were told by a charlatan, it's your health and health of anybody else with whom you might be close. ...Read more

If someone engaged in oral, anal, and normal sex with someone with gonorrhea why do they need to be tested in all areas when the treatment is same?
Possibly unnecessary: If someone already has a positive test for gonorrhea in one site, "testing in all areas when the treatment is same" is not done routinely and may not be recommended. If someone has engaged in oral, anal and genital "normal sex "and wants to be screened for gonorrhea, sampling all these areas may improve the detection rate and diagnostic accuracy...i.e. reduce the risk of a false negative screen. ...Read more
