Just prior to the more painful mouth palate injections in preparation for oral surgery can a patient request nitrous oxide as an helpful aid, or not?

Sure, or a general.: Palatal, roof of the mouth injections, for oral surgery procedures such as dental implants etc. Can be uncomfortable. Sometimes a topical anesthetic and a little distracting pressure with a dental instrument will suffice. Otherwise, nitrous oxide. Any suggestions for getting through my preparations for a colonoscopy?

Several Tips: Don't drink your prep too fast. You are more likely to get nausea and vomiting if you chug too fast. Also, don't chill your prep too much. Really cold liquids slow down gastric emptying. Also, the closer you take the prep to the time of colonoscopy, the cleaner your prep will be. ...Read more

Is there anything I should be doing right now to assist me in preparation for dialysis when the time comes? (the do's and don't s ). Thank you.

Yes: If you have renal insufficiency ("pre-dialysis" kidney disease) you should consider getting a fistula placed. Since you have some klidney function you are a better surgical candidate, will heal better, and can get a native vein fistula (the best kind). Don't wait until you start dialysis because you may need a catheter (which is not good). ...Read more

Im 55 yrs old and never had a colonoscpy yet is there an easier test to take the preparation the day before scares me.

What are you asking?: Are you asking for an alternative colon screening modality--there are several (fecal dna testing, ct colonography, air contrast barium enema plus sigmoidoscopy, etc.). Any look at the colon will however require a preparation, but the only colon test that permits therapeutics through the entire colon (e.g. Removal of detected polyps) rather than just a diagnostic look, is in fact a colonoscopy. ...Read more
