Frequently: Lotemax (loteprednol) is the brand name of a steroid (anti-inflammatory) eyedrop. If the condition for which it was prescribed causes blurry vision, then as the drop improves the condition the blur will improve. Lotemax (loteprednol) will not substitute for eyeglasses or for structural problems lowering the vision. Discuss this with the ophthalmologist who prescribed you the lotemax (loteprednol). ...Read more
Acthar q week and pred 25mg daily. Taper over 4 months. Severe prob return before acthar when decreased pred. Shouldn't acthar allow for faster taper?
See details: Other than being incredibly expensive, acthar gel has little benefit over prednisone. Currently you feel better because you are taking 2 separate forms of corticosteroids. You are simply in the process of trading one form for another. Why are you taking these meds in the first place? ...Read more
NO: No, Pred Forte is a steroid and does not cause dilation. You may have other drops that possibly you touched with your hand and then your eye that could cause it to dialte with the smallest amount of contact (not putting a drop in the eye directly). Or the condition you are using the Pred Forte for is causing the eye to appear dilated (or the adjacent eye to be smaller, making the eye other eye). ...Read more

Can one build up a tolerance to either Alrex (loteprednol) and Pred Forte eye drops over time, decreasing their effectiveness?
Probably not: Alrex (loteprednol) is extremely weak and you would not be likely to notice the difference. Pred Forte has a good deal of anti-inflammatory strength but is a cognate of a natural hormone so you would not lose response. The condition you are treating might get more severe however which you would interpret as the drop losing effectiveness. ...Read more

Got swollen red eyes w light sens & tears. Stopped wearing contacts , an eye doc. Prescribed tobradex (tobramycin and dexamethasone) st. A day of drops helped but still sensitive.
Overwear syndrome: Sounds like you had a keratitis possibly from hypoxia due to overwear of your contact lenses. As long as your eye doctor ruled out a corneal ulcer your eyes will gradually recover. You may want to return to your physician to re-evaluate your present contact lens material and fit to avoid a recurrence. You may also want to be evaluated for dry eye which can decrease the contact lens performance. ...Read more

Desperate! Wat can I use for sjogrens related severe Dr eyes, already used lotemax (loteprednol) n restasis w no luck.no appt for rheumi avail till 2 mnths, cnt wrk?
Need eye doc: First, I would recommend an evaluation by an ophthalmologist. Sjogren related dry eyes can be severe and will require aggressive attention. For now, artificial tears over the counter (preservative free is better so you can use it very frequently) during the day and lubricating ointment at bedtime. Lotemax/restasis helps get inflammation under control but does little for lubrication. Good luck. ...Read more

Herpes zoster tx: The standard approach to herpes zoster opthalmicus is to treat with antiviral therapy using a systemic drug like acyclovir, valacyclovir or famciclovir.
