Day 25 of my 31 day cycle, I have had 5 positive OPK tests five days in a row, I am always regular and have no issues, what could it be?
It is puzzling ...: As you know, the positive ovulation predictor measures LH (luteinizing hormone) that should rise before ovulation. Your question suggests your cycle is always/usually 31 days in length, so I agree day 25 should be beyond this. Usually only positive 1-2 days. 5 ???. Presume not taking Clomid (clomiphene) which can cause false positive. Use another brand next month; if abnormal,MD eval for LH producing condition ...Read more
My ov. Calendar has been right on w/ my OPK tests ever since i started 4 months ago. I should have an LH surge now but my OPK says no. Why no ov.?
I used OPK tests wrongly over past week before 8am with first wee as i didn't realise its better in the pm. They were all neg could I have ovulated?
Likely not.: The test sensitivity is higher in am than pm but it will still pick up positive result at anytime of the day. God bless u :) http://www.Womenfitness.Net/conceiving_naturally.Htm. ...Read more
Took Clomid (clomiphene) cd5-9. Started OPK cd10 not knowing could get false positive. Cd10and11 was negative but cd12 got +opk then stopped testing. Could that be false positive? Did digital OPK tests
The last 2 days opk tests show faint second line. Today I went to the doctor she saw an egg on usg. If there is egg, why the opk tests are negative?
Might I still ovulate even when the digital OPK tests say negative? I've been testing days 11-22 (each morning) after taking Provera (medroxyprogesterone) and then Clomid.
Yes: First ovulation kits are often wrong in both directions so that is common. And for some women they do not work. They will only turn positive if you ovulate and you might not ovulate on the Clomid (clomiphene). Also your LH level has to be high enough to turn the kit positive. So at some point it might be easier to get blood tests to confirm what is going on. ...Read more
Have had positive OPK tests 8 days in a row, then they were negative the past 5 days. Pain in lower abdomen during intercourse as well. Pregnant?
Use test: OPKs stay positive for a while after they turn positive, but that doesn't mean you were ovulating for 8 days in a row. The conversion of a negative test to a positive one is indicative that ovulation will happen soon. At that point you needn't continue to use the OPK until the next cycle. Nothing you have said indicates or refutes the idea of you being pregnant right now. ...Read more
2nd cycle on Clomid (clomiphene) + timed intercourse. Ovulation detected w/ OPKs and blood tests. Can I ask RE for u/s monitored cycles in future to ease my mind?
Yes: Many RE specialists will have you get a mid cycle ultrasound to look at follicle size and number. Obviously that's a more expensive way of doing things and probably doesn't need to be started until you've had 3 or so successful OPKs on the clomid, (clomiphene) but you certainly can request it. ...Read more
If using opks and blood progesterone tests, are ultrasounds to see folicles necessary when taking clomid (clomiphene)? Doc didn't order them, should I ask her to?
Necessary?: Most all fertility specialists monitor with ultrasound, almost no regular obg do. It may-or-may-not be necessary, but it is pro-active an gives alot more information than opk. I feel women with dead-on regular 28 day cycles can often use an opk; those who are less regular do better with ultrasound. Just my opinion. ...Read more
Regd OPK test. Tried testing @ CD 11 and saw light line and on CD12 /13/14 don't see any line. What could be wrong. Last cycle same thing happend?
I got positive OPk this month & after 48 hours it was negative. My qus. is that if i take OPK test next month will it be show negative after same time?
It may: do that each cycle, especially if your periods are mostly regular. The important thing is not how many days, but "when" it first turns positive. OPK does not tell you when you are fertile: it tells you when the signal (LH surge) for ovulation starts, that's when you need to be trying. Number of positive days is unimportant. Good luck. ...Read more

I have done the "eggwhite" ovulation test and it seems like I am ovulating . I have done the OPK test and its negative. Can the OPK test be wrong?
Timing: Egg white (clear and stretchy) cervical mucous indicates that estrogen levels are high. High estrogen is common as you are preparing for ovulation. If cycles are regular, 28 days, and cervical mucous appears around day 11-12, you probably will ovulate about day 13-14. Cervical mucous can occur in women that do not ovulate at all, in pcos, or while on estrogen therapy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Had peak reading on clearblue advance OPK on cd 5&6. I continued to test and had no more peaks. Could this mean that ovulation happened that early?
May be false positiv: A normal ovulation will not happen on cycle day 5 or 6 (assuming you are counting day #1 as the first day of menstrual bleeding). Occasionally an ovulation predictor kit will be inaccurate because of other hormonal problems. Your doctor may order a Progesterone blood test around cycle day 21 to help determine if ovulation truly happened. ...Read more
Help please, I ovulated on the 15/16 confirmed by opk, then got negatives now I’ve got a high ovulation test again, why is this? Please help someone
Unclear: After you get a positive ovulation test you stop testing as the hormone that triggers ovulation will linger around. At age 18 it is not typical to be needing to take ovulation tests monthly. If you are trying to get pregnant and having trouble then more official ovulation testing can be done. If you are testing to prevent pregnancy then see an obgyn to discuss birth control options. ...Read more
