One Week After Tooth Extraction
Quite Common: Sockets from wisdom teeth extractions heal from the inside out so it is quite common for there to be a 'hole' one week post extraction. Often times the lower wisdom teeth sockets have to be washed out to remove any debris about a week after the extraction. If the area is hurting or swollen I would recommend contacting your dentist and ask if a post-op check is indicated. Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
I have severe pain after tooth extraction (one week ago). My dentist says it's fine and healing. Is this pain normal then?
Could be infection: Go back to the dentist who did the extraction and ask that they check the socket. Such pain at this time is wrong. You should be healing and getting pain free, not getting more pain! Read more

I have a lightly painful lump in my cheek after one week from wisdom tooth extraction. Had significant swelling and external bruising. Tooth was high and in bone. No signs of infection. Healing well overall. Size has been consistent whole week.?
Questions: Not unusual. May take months to resolve. To be sure, make an appointment with the Surgeon who removed the tooth for a post-surgical examination. Take along a written list of all your questions. That way the Surgeon can address all your concerns. Read more

Depends: If you just had the tooth extracted, you should only bite on gauze for about an hour. If you keep gauze in your mouth longer, you may pull out your blood clot. You can also bite on a wet tea bag for ten minutes. The tannic acid will help clot the blood. Do not suck on anything, smoke or spit for 24 hours. If you continue to bleed, contact your dentist. 4 days post tooth extraction, skin pulled up from stitch in one spot. Do I need to get it redone?
About how much would it cost w/out insurance for a single wisdom tooth extraction? I only have one, slightly impacted, and hasn't come out of gum.
How much is a tooth extraction if you don't have insurance? I desperately need one tooth to be extracted, but don't have any insurance, and don't have a lot of money. Can anyone give me some idea of what I can expect to pay for an extraction? .
You: You do not have a lot of money and no dental insurance and desparately need one tooth extracted.....And your question was how much would you be expected to pay? I am going to answer the question. The numbers will vary from office to office and how complicated the extraction is....But here goes. In a general dentists office, if they have a discount plan in place for people with financial problems and no insurance, a simple extraction would run $90 and depending upon the condition of the tooth and location, can go up to $140. If the doctor feels it is too complicated for him to perform to get the entire tooth out, he should refer you to an oral surgeon and the price will definitely go up. If you are desperate and can not afford this, try to find a university with a dental school and you might have to pay less. I hope this helps and I hope you can get your tooth extracted as soon as possible so you are not in pain. Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Typically, symptoms for a dry socket develop 2 to 4 days after a tooth extraction.: Dry socket is more common in people with diabetes, smokers and women who take birth Control pills. The pain typically starts about 2 days after the tooth was pulled. Over time it becomes more severe and can radiate to your ear.Pain is associated with malodor and bad taste.Your dentist will clean the tooth socket, removing any debris from the hole, and then fill the socket with a medicated dressing. Something's wrong: Something's wrong but I cannot know what without examining you in person. You will have to return to the dentist who extracted your tooth to evaluate what the problem is. It may well be something unrelated to the extraction. Only a one on one clinical exam and x-rays can determine that. Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
