Why is there a hole in my wisdom tooth extraction site one week after procedure?

Why is there a hole in my wisdom tooth extraction site one week after procedure?

Quite Common: Sockets from wisdom teeth extractions heal from the inside out so it is quite common for there to be a 'hole' one week post extraction. Often times the lower wisdom teeth sockets have to be washed out to remove any debris about a week after the extraction. If the area is hurting or swollen I would recommend contacting your dentist and ask if a post-op check is indicated. Read more

What is one way to stop my gums from bleeding after having a tooth extraction?

What is one way to stop my gums from bleeding after having a tooth extraction?

Depends: If you just had the tooth extracted, you should only bite on gauze for about an hour. If you keep gauze in your mouth longer, you may pull out your blood clot. You can also bite on a wet tea bag for ten minutes. The tannic acid will help clot the blood. Do not suck on anything, smoke or spit for 24 hours. If you continue to bleed, contact your dentist. Varies greatly: If fairly easy with local anesthetic in a lower fee location, possibly $150 or somewhat less, but if difficult, with general anesthesia, at an expensive location, much more $. Possibly a dental school may be an option for you. Read more

You: You do not have a lot of money and no dental insurance and desparately need one tooth extracted.....And your question was how much would you be expected to pay? I am going to answer the question. The numbers will vary from office to office and how complicated the extraction is....But here goes. In a general dentists office, if they have a discount plan in place for people with financial problems and no insurance, a simple extraction would run $90 and depending upon the condition of the tooth and location, can go up to $140. If the doctor feels it is too complicated for him to perform to get the entire tooth out, he should refer you to an oral surgeon and the price will definitely go up. If you are desperate and can not afford this, try to find a university with a dental school and you might have to pay less. I hope this helps and I hope you can get your tooth extracted as soon as possible so you are not in pain. Read more
