Possible false posit: Approximately 5-10% of drug tests have a false positive result. Some cold medications, the antidepressant wellbutrin, (bupropion) and tricyclic antidepressants can trigger false-positive results on tests for amphetamines. Are over-the-counter UTI  test strips as accurate as the one done in the doctors office?

Yes and no: Otc strips show products that are present with red cells, white cells and bacteria. They don't actually show infection or blood. To do this they need to do a cell count and culture and that has to be sent out. The otc strips are similar and when they are positive they are suggestive of uti. Be careful, blood in urine alone can be stone or bladder cancer. Get it checked. ...Read more

Glucometer: Test strips can cost from less than 50 cents a strip to as much as $2 a strip. You should call your insurance company to find out which meter and strips are preferred. Many meters have bells and whistles that cost. A simple but accurate glucose meter should be adequate. No: The suboxone will not show up as an opiate on a drug test. Suboxone will cause a positive test result for Buprenorphine (the active ingredient in suboxone) but that is only if the lab specifically tests for it. After a week, one film strip should not cause a positive result. ...Read more

Wait a little longer: Most otc test will test positive if you are a week past your expected cycle date. Some will catch it earlier but not all the tests. If you are a week late then most of them will test positive if you are pregnant. ...Read more
