What do you suggest if i'm perscribed fluticasone (flonase) and it says use 1 spray nasally one daily. Does that mean one total or one in each nose?
I get nasal congestion almost every night. Is it OK to use the nasal spray of 0.05% oxymetazoline in the morning several times about 3X week?
Yes: I know about the cautions to minimize the use of oxymetazoline, due to its propensity to result in addiction. However, I also know that it's essential to be able to breath. I've known a number of people who used it for years, due to their chronic allergies. Sure, they were addicted to it, and couldn't breath without it--but it didn't cause them any other problems. It's much safer than steroids ...Read more
I've been using Flonase for almost three months 1 spray each nostril twice a day. Can it cause more mucus to build up in Eustachian Tube?.
No: Less. Many people sniff this up strongly which means that much of it goes to the throat and is swallowed. Read the instructions. It should be aimed to the side and retained inside the nose. Many people also take an antihistamine. NOT BENADRYL. Allegra, Claratin, Zyrtec. Generics are the same with lower price. ...Read more

You : You have to take the Flonase for a week for it to be effective and you should do nasal washes on a daily basis. I was told by an ENT to use budesinide inhalant along with saline solution, 3ml of buedonsise and 2 mil water into my nasal each on one for 4 min with?
Complaint?: You don't tell us what your complaint is. But if you saw an ENT doctor, he is treating you for either allergic rhinitis, non-allergic rhinitis, or possibly sinusitis. I would not recommend the use of water for 2 reasons. It may dilute the concentration of the budesonide, a topical steroid. Also i would advise Normal Saline (salt rather than water but only 30 minutes before or after the drug. ...Read more
I have reoccurring headaches around the nasal cavity with small droplet of blood when blowing nose? I also use nasal spray six times or more a day.
Needs a specialist: From ur complaint and the short history, it looks like u've got a chronic upper airway disease affecting ur nasal cavity and ur sinuses, causing the headaches, the congestion and the need to use nassal sprays, even if u r using those over the counter, excessive use means a continuous (chronic) problem, i suggest seeing an ENT first, may be an allergist/immunologist later. ...Read more

One of my nostrils gets blocked for a prolonged time and then alternates to the other nostril both are never clear of congestion ?
Nasal cycling: That is not unusual and is called "nasal cycling". It tends to happen every 4 hours or so. If you have allergies, it could be that a prescription nasal steroid spray can help give you more room to breathe and not notice the cycling. You could also try some nasal saline. Some people need surgeries to fix the nasal septum or turbinates. If it is very troublesome you should see an ENT about it. ...Read more
I breathe through one nose most of the time.Air goes through both but one nostril takes most of it in and the other one takes a little. Normal?
Not normal.: It seems that you have the nose septum deviated. Or have some tissue growth on the side of the problem . Some over the counter medications will help with the symptoms, but if it's really bad, or worsens, you should see an specialist ;ent doctor (ear nose and throat). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Do the antihistamine nose sprays and the steroid sprays lose their effectiveness over time? Should I alternate, using one type of spray each month?
Should not: These sprays should not lose their effectiveness over time. Some people need both in combination. I would suggest using the antihistamine spray and adding in the steroid spray when your symptoms are not controlled. It may take a couple of days to feel the full effect of the steroid spray. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have bad post nasal drip. I started using azelastine as two sprays in the morning and Veramyst as two sprays in the evening. But no improvement. ?
See allergist: If your symptoms have not responded to Veramyst and Azelastine, you should consult an allergist (who has also completed training in internal medicine and/or pediatrics) to find out whether the problem is an allergic one. If so, help you out on avoidance measures and guide you on the treatment. Reflux disease can also lead to a sensation and sinus infection the presence of post-nasal drips. ...Read more
My gp prescribed one xyzal (levocetirizine) a day and 2 sprays of Veramyst in each nostril twice a day. Is it a normal dosage? What are the possible side effects?
Normal: Zyzal is the new zyrtec, that dose is standard. It can cause mucosal drying and some difficulty urinating in persons with enlarged prostate. The Veramyst is a nasal steroid, which can predispose tofungal infection or bleeds. None of these are common side effects, they are generally well tolerated. The doses are usual. ...Read more

Hey, I've been bleeding from my nose at least 2-3 times a week for a month or so. Each time its a different nostril. Also when i sneeze blood comes ou?
See doctor: First one needs to find out the cause for the bleeding which usually originates at the nasal septum. One also needs to know if you are using an OTC nasal spray, cocaine, or a nasal steroid spray (directed towards the center instead of the sides of the nose). Your family doctor should be able to help you out on this. ...Read more
