Backup method??: Fluconazole is an anti fungal medicine, NOT a birth control medicine! Either you misspelled a word or somebody is misleading you. The BCPs that you are taking have an efficacy of greater than 99% if you follow the directions scrupulously. Their very rare failure is due to women skipping the pill. No: No, the EC does not effect the effectiveness of the other birth control you were already on and actually if you were already on a hormonal birth control method and were taking it properly every day then there was probably no need to even take the EC as you were already covered by the daily birth control pill you were already taking.
