Urinalysis shows enterococcus susceptible to ampicillin and nitrofurantoin. I took both and they didn't work! Move on to other drugs listed on report?
Persistent UTI: This depends on what "didn't work" means. Typical UTI symptoms? Abnormal urinalysis? Continued positive culture for enterococcus? I am pregnant and due anytime now. I have been talking amoxicillin and ampicillin. Will these show positive for cocaine when they do a drug test on baby?
It works if indicate: We do not use Ampicillin these days as it has to be taken 4 times a day. So we use Amoxicillin which can be taken only twice a day. It takes three weeks to see positive effect, and three months to see full effect. But long term use can cause bacterial resistance.
