Waning off omeprazol: Try to take it every other night.And if it works try every third day and than twice a week, and if you have no symptoms of reflux you may stop it and see how you go.You should still keep some, if you eat the wrong kind of food, drink alcohol etc, you may take it to prevent heartburn.Consult your doctor, as tto if you can stop only if you have no endoscoppy evidence of esophagitis etc. ...Read more

Infection/absorption: The most common concerns are infection, electrolytes, and metabolic bone disease. The stomach acid kills bacteria. Less acid may cause GI infections and pneumonia (from reflux into the lungs). Decreasing acid may cause malabsorption leading to changes in the blood salts (electrolytes). I have been prescribed omeprazole for gastritis related to nsaid use,  I can't tolerate the omeprazole does the use of antacids treat gastritis??

Maybe: It was a standard practice when the early drugs for ulcers and gastritis were not prescription, to try a week of intensive antacid therapy: 30 cc of a liquid antacid, 30 minutes before each meal and 60 minutes after meals, and before bedtime. This was done for 7 days. If there was no improvement, then a trial of px strength meds was done for a month, if no better, scope done. ...Read more

Normal cbc. But fatigue, low energy.. on metformin for pcos & insulin resis. Smtms acidity..use omeprazole.. pain in hand & legs. Whr to start scan?
